When you work at Caterpillar as a Facility Project Engineer, you will provide the technical subject matter expertise, leadership and guidance to facility personnel to ensure the economical design, construction, installation and maintenance of assigned service systems, facilities and equipment. In addition, they manage other large-scope projects associated with Plant Engineering responsibilities.

Caterpillar’s Facility Project Engineers perform the following job duties:

· Accountable for cost estimating, project management, designing and drawing necessary equipment, structures or systems specifications;

· Specifies and orders required materials;

· Writes specifications and installation methods;

· Acts as consultant for departmental personnel and other plants;

· Maintains standards and specifications, and recommends changes to resolve design and construction problems;

· Writes project status reports;

· Provides leadership to other facilities engineers and directs efforts of contract engineering firms;

· Provides design information and reviews and approves proposals;

· Develops cost estimates for equipment, materials and installation;

· Approves drawings, specifies equipment and writes purchase requisitions; and

· Troubleshoots failure and recommends solutions

Caterpillar’s Facility Project Engineers are the facility subject matter experts in specific technical areas, and work assignments are assigned based on area of expertise.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills and behaviors:

· Significant experience and expertise in designing and / or redesigning service systems such as electrical power components for substations, lighting systems, heat treat equipment, machine tool electrical equipment, material handling systems, filtration systems, paint systems, utilities for water, gas, steam, air, hearing or ventilation, etc.;

· Good written and oral communication skills; and

· Excellent problem-solving skills.
