Job Output:
? Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, this position is responsible for providing process engineering services to the Boardmill department in a mineral fiber ceiling plant. Provide daily support to the Production department so that quality, downtime and productivity goals are met. Oversee process management, lead new product development, identifying and completing process improvement or cost reduction projects and providing technical support and problem solving. During start-up, establish process and product specifications and standard settings, set up test procedures, develop formulations and create cost standards and provide sound scientific methodology to solve problems and make improvements.

Key Process (Ownership/Participation):
? Be responsible for personal safety performance and training. Provide safety leadership to peers and floor employees in the form of reinforcing expectations, training, auditing and correcting issues. Include safety compliance and good housekeeping in all development or line testing efforts.
? Under guidance of the Technical Services Manager, implement and monitor assigned process improvement/product development/cost reduction projects to meet completion criteria related to safety, budget, schedule and performance. Projects will be of small to medium in terms of scope and complexity.
? Assist EHS and Production to ensure plant conformance to all environmental regulations and standards including water and air emissions and energy usage efforts.
? Working with raw material suppliers to ensure compliance to requirements.
? Manage the boardmill quality process including: (i) establishment and maintenance of process specifications (ii) boardmill raw material specifications (iii) data collection, review and analysis (iv) process/quality standard work and reaction plans (v) audit processes for all product performance characteristics
? Develop calibration process for boardmill measurement equipment and manage calibration schedule.
? Train operators on new processes, procedures or products requirements as part of project work.
? Apply Lean principles to problem solutions. Understand and use fundamentals to eliminate waste including 5S, TPM, SMED and standard work. Participate in Kaizen efforts of facility.

Education & Work Experience:
? Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or similar field
? Minimum three years chemical engineering experience in a process based, multi-national manufacturing environment.
? Familiarity with Lean principles are a plus

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
? Able to use MS Office family of software; capable of learning new process control systems
? Knowledge of process improvement techniques including statistics and its applications
? Project Management basics
? Basic English language skills including reading, writing and speaking

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
? Occasional travel for vendor visits or training
? Occasional out of the ordinary work hours including during holidays
? Work environment that may be dusty, wet and noisy. High or low ambient temperatures at times.
? Some physical lifting and odd work positions may be encountered.
