Title: NPI Manager

Division: NPI, Metal

Report to: NPI (new product introduction) Director

Subordinates: 30~50

Location: Shenzhen and Guangzhou (Dagang, Panyu)

Job Summary and Purpose

The Department Manager reports to the NPI (new product introduction) Director and works closely with other functional leaders within The Company, including the Shenzhen (China) or Dagang (Guangzhou, China). The Department Manager is responsible for all of the OEM / ODM’s product development activities and the management of the engineering team. Further responsibilities includes strengthen / expanding the division, performance appraisal, improving work procedures and establishing production cost optimization processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

l Leading a team with 4~5 Sr. Engineers as subordinates plus total 30 mid-level engineers

l Develop strategic planning for and direction and control of product development activities

l Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, for all product development

l Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet product development and/or customer requirements, per the product and/or marketing requirements document

l Ensure that the product is fully and correctly defined and documented

l Hire and direct staff of senior group members to acquire necessary resources and plan to meet scheduled commitments

l Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence

l Ensure implementation of formal processes to support the product development process

l Provides management with timely reviews of project status and progress in its various programs and activities

l Prepare and deliver annual budgets (headcount, expense, and capital)

Special Knowledge, skills/education requirements

l BS or MS in mechanical or manufacturing engineering required

l Good command of spoken and written Mandarin and English

l Minimum 15 years working experience in New Product Development & Introduction, Project Management, Manufacturing with emphasis in Metal areas and preferable also in communication, computer, and consumer electronics OEM

l Strong operational and project management skills

l Demonstrated team building and leadership skills

l Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development

l Familiar with application software, such as MS Project, Office, AutoCAD, Pro-E

Physical Demands

l Job is performed at our worksite at Shenzhen (China) and/or Dagang (Guangzhou, China)

l Travel is required as it relates to projects, business applications and training (some international travel may be required).
