The position is located in Novo Nordisk Research Center China (NNRCC) at Beijing Zhongguancun life Science Park.

Novo Nordisk Research Center China (NNRCC) is one of the biggest R&D centers set up by multinational pharmaceuticals companies in China. It is an integrated part of Novo Nordisk’s R&D organization, focusing on the innovative research to develop novel drugs for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, hemophilia, growth disorder and inflammatory diseases. Currently, the R&D center has more than 200 employees including ~70 PhDs, and will continue expansion in coming years. NNRCC has a >13,000 m2 state-of-art facility, including biotech laboratories, rodent and dog facilities. It is critically important to maintain the environmental, health and safety in NNRCC in accordance with Novo Nordisk global policies and local policies.

Job Title: Facility and Security Manager

Immediate superior: Director of Operations
Member of NNRCC Research Operations Management team.

Number of subordinates with direct/indirect referral: 3 FTEs ( and ~20 outsourcing staff)

Qualifications (minimum requirements):
Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English
Subject matter expertise in facility operation and utility systems
Excellent track record of independently developing initiatives for improving facility management
Experienced in managing external vendors in various facility projects
Quality driven and service oriented mind-set are required
Knowledge in GxP, LEAN, PM, or BMS is preferred
Professional experience:
8+ years of experience on facility management and maintenance, in a research centre or a laboratory a plus
10+ years of people management experience, leading a facility engineer team for facility operation and maintenance.
Prior work experience in multi-national pharmaceutical or biotech industry is preferred.
Education:
Bachelor degree or above in electrics or mechanics or architecture or engineering major


Main job tasks:

Facility and equipment management
Ensure smooth operation of the facility especially for the animal facilities and key laboratories. This includes the operation and maintenance of comprehensive building MEP systems, such as
Stable utility supply
Electric system
HVAC, and BMS system control of temperature, humidity and ventilation
Building mechanical and other safety control
Plumbing & drainage
Other special aspects related to animal facilities & laboratories
Accountable for office & laboratory renovation and expansion project.
Accountable for proper monitoring systems in the facility to detect problems as early as possible.
Accountable for backup plan for unexpected facility equipment emergences
Owner of facility and security SOPs
Manage the efficiency and effectiveness of outsourcing teams

Security:
Ensure the physical security of the facility through management and engagement of an outsourced security team
Improve team performance to support facility operation and security of facility, and provide other value added security service to the research staff.

External Relationship
Serve as primary liaison to building landlord and Property Management Company on facility and security related issues
Serve as primary liaison to NN peers on facility & security issues outside of NNRCC

EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)

Assist EHS Chair and group identifying & implementing EHS related improvements

Managerial and other duties

Line manager for facility and security team and outsourcing team.
As a member of the NNRCC Research Operations management team to ensure smooth operation of NNRCC
Collaborate with NNRCC other operation functions and research departments
Ensure the compliance of the Facility team with all local and NN polices.
