STANDARD TITLE: Global Supply Chain Materials Manager

Job Description

Contract Manufacturing Material Management team in the Global S&OP and Planning Group, within the Manufacturing and Supply Chain (MSC) organization, is seeking a Materials Manager that will assume a key leadership role in managing materials with our CMs (Contract Manufacturers) as well as across a virtual end to end supply chain team.

The Global S&OP and Planning Group manages end-to-end Finished Goods planning for the Microsoft supply chain, including supply, demand and inventory management. The group also manages planning for all Microsoft hardware & software components throughout the entire supply chain.

Key Responsibilities include:

? COS (Continuity of Supply) Management:
o Create consistent and comprehensive visibility into materials pipeline in support of production plans.
o Map out complex multi-tier supply chain networks to ensure alignment in material supply and demand by partnering with the Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Finance organizations
o Identify supply risk and drive for resolutions proactively
o Manage risk buy to ensure new project launch

? E&O (Excess & Obsolete) Management:
o Timely E&O review and validation with CM’s (contract manufacturers) to identify and mitigate Microsoft exposure
o Collaborate with Finance and Supply Planning to ensure proper reserve in place to cover risk
o Manage scrap process to ensure timely disposition on obsolete materials
o Perfect execution on last time buy and EOL to achieve zero excess and liability

? Inventory Control:
o Ownership for component inventory throughout the Microsoft Hardware supply chain network
o Analyze set of inventory reports from CM to understand overall MS inventory exposure
o Make sure CM inventory movements cop with build plan changes
o Monitor inventory level on WIP, semi-FG, and FG to identify and mitigate risk
o Project manage impaired inventory to ensure quick disposition. Track impaired inventory amount against reserves

? Continuous Improvement on Supplier’s Materials Management Capability:
o Training and materials management process set up with new suppliers
o Drive improvement on data accuracy and on time submission
o Identify and deliver projects that enhances the existing supply chain and material management practices and processes
o Provide leadership to material planning team (including those from supply base) to achieve KPIs
An ideal candidate for the Global Supply Chain Materials Manager role will have the following skills and experience:
o Materials management knowledge for high volume and high mix manufacturing
o In depth knowledge on factory operations and manufacturing process
o A strategic thinker with a proven track record of implementing and delivering complex supply chain solutions across multiple geographies
o Ability to develop efficient work processes for complex projects involving many groups, across multiple geographies and effectively coordinate, implement and maintain those processes
o Demonstrated experience interacting with senior management and executives (internally & externally) with the ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels of management
o Deals well with tough political situations and are proactive in building and maintaining a network of effective relationships
o Readily and easily switches gears in response to unexpected events and circumstances
o Analyzes, explains and draws logical conclusions based on complex and ambiguous data from multiple content areas

Qualifications:
o 10+ plus years of experience in high-tech manufacturing, consumer electronics and supply chain
o Significant experience in a variety of manufacturing and/or planning environments
o Background in managing international relationships and remote organizations
o Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
o Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese
