Main Purpose of the Job:

The Advanced Technical Lead supports group innovation activities managed under the Faurecia Eastworks team. The role’s primary goal will be to mature new ideas, concepts, and technologies through preliminary engineering exploration. This activity will be focused on the Fueling (pre-M0) and Exploration (pre-M1) phases of the Faurecia Innovation Process and will require a high level of collaboration with the cross functional global “Works” advanced development team. Primary responsibility is mechanical engineering. Responsibilities will also include research related to end-users, emerging technology, and “learn fast” prototyping. The individual must be an exceptional communicator, and will be asked to present both internally and to customers. Engineering responsibilities will include concept packaging, design exploration in 2D/3D CAD, and physical prototyping.

- Complete engineering activities in support of local Advanced Innovation Managers
- The position involves specialized activities carried out independently within a global innovation process, including much autonomy in the decision making.
- Stay current with consumer, technology and industry trends
- Utilize “learn-fast” prototype processes to speed the ideation process
- Interact with engineering and prototyping outsources to expand internal capabilities when necessary
- Establish technical solutions to progress Innovation concepts towards commercialization
- Produce necessary documentation for physical project walls and digital presentations
- Creating and critiquing 3d CAD concepts (preferably utilizing Catia V5 CAD software)
- Define “baseline” specification for innovation projects
- Provide a variety of design solutions accompanied by analysis, supporting information and recommendations
- Complete all assignments on a timely basis according to overall project schedules, and manage personal timelines.
- Maintain strong familiarity with Faurecia CAD repositories, data acquisition methods, and contacts

Responsibilities:

Customer/Business:
- Responsible for all assigned advanced innovation projects (meet performance standards, assure design quality, light budget & resource planning, etc.)
- Compelling communicator, internally and externally

Product/Process:
- Provide expertise for product definition, design development, and execution
- Demonstrate understanding and support of corporate and team objectives and strategies
- Demonstrate understanding and support of Business Groups, FAS, objectives and strategies
- Demonstrate understanding and support of Regional Divisions' objectives and strategies
- Pro-actively support the divisions in the commercial process of ‘selling’ Innovation to the customer
- Integrate and manage CAD models (3D and drawings) and BOM’s
- Significant participation in product and process critiques
- Interact with other Faurecia advanced development and technical teams at a local and group level
- Stay current with consumer, technology and industry trends
- Maintain project or program budgets when necessary

People:
- Support and inspire team with technical and creative knowledge
- Support management initiatives outside direct tasks and responsibilities
- Interact with customer design engineers if necessary

Position Qualifications:

- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Two years of professional engineering experience, preferably automotive seating.
- Exceptional visualization and communication skills
- Great listening skills to support greater organization needs
- Experience with contemporary stage gate based product development processes
- Knowledge of market, consumer & technology research methodologies and competitor analysis
- Excellent CAD modeling skills, preferably with CATIA V5
- Experience working closely with product development teams
- Excellent English language fluency (reading, writing, speaking, and presenting)
