Job Summary:
Provides technical support for the alternate source raw material qualification projects as well as ingredient troubleshooting in Mary Kay China. Serves as the lab scientist to conduct the lab batches of Mary Kay product using the alternate source raw material and a control batch using the raw material from an original approved supplier. Work on the documentation such as collecting records and reports, enter them into ingredient qualification summary report, as well as the ingredient specification correction and revision in Mary Kay documentation system.
Job Responsibilties:
Formula Compatibility Study for the Ingredient: Serves as the lab scientist to conduct the lab batches of product using the alternate source raw material and a control batch using the raw material from an original approved supplier. Evaluate aesthetics and performance of the test batch versus the control batch with QC team for acceptability to support the raw material qualification. Support principal ingredient scientist to perform supplier technical capability assessment with relevant partners. Work process is monitored, and test results are reviewed (40%)
Analytical & Stability Testing: Performs analytical physical tests according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) on testing of bulk and/or finished product as required to qualify new sources of raw materials to ensure conformance with required specifications. . Testing may include application of raw material in a product via the stability testing. (20%)
Documentations: Work on the documentation such as collecting records and reports, enter them into ingredient qualification summary report, as well as the ingredient specification correction and revision in Mary Kay documentation system. (10%)
Issuing standards for new qualified raw material and distribute standards and other documents (e.g. MSDS) to MKC QC lab and other related functions. (10%)
Issue Resolution: Recognizes analytical problem situations, report findings to an upper level staff in a timely manner and solves problems with supervision from upper level staff. (10%)
Conduct ingredient characteristic training to operation and QC team. (10%)

Job Qulifications:
Job requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with emphasis on surfactant, polymer or biochemistry plus three years of formula or process development experience in the cosmetic industry or a master's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with emphasis on surfactant, polymer or biochemistry plus more than one year of formula or process development experience in the cosmetic, industry.
Must be familiar with cosmetics product mixing process and be able to demonstrate ability to perform lab batch and testing for the cosmetics product.
3. Must have a good understanding of GLP requirement and statistical process controls in order to sample and test product and perform basic analytical lab duties. Familiarity with the cosmetic raw materials' physical and chemical properties is highly desirable.
Must have excellent written communication skills in both Mandarin and English.

Must have good problem solving skills and attention to detail.
