Job Summary and Mission
This job contributes to Starbucks success by leading development of regional and
local sourcing initiatives in support of company-owned and licensed stores in the
region in order to reduce supply costs, mitigate quality risk and enhance product
development. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the
following:
Leadership - Setting goals for the spend category, developing sourcing strategy,
leading cross functional project team and modeling how we work together:
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the cross
functional teamwork to achieve business results.
- Sets spend category goals, strategies and ensures they are rolled up to company
visions and objectives.
- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the
Company.
Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans and
executing:
- Develop spend category goals to support departmental and company goals.
- Develops strategies, schedules and work assignments to ensure projects meet time
and budget goals
- Develops, maintains and analyzes supplier performance measurements. Develops
recommendations for reducing total costs, improving quality and product innovation
and elevate compliance to Starbucks ethical sourcing concept.
- Plans and manages department processes, standards and practices to ensure
programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in
processes, policies and practices within the organization.
Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional
responsibilities:
- Analyzes procurement costs/spend and assists BUs in reducing costs through regional and local sourcing.
- Collaborates with cross-functional team, e.g. operations, category,quality
assurance, .., etc. to deliver procurement projects that bring consistent experience to
Starbucks stores and store partners
- Collaborates with the Global and AP regional procurement teams and the other
functions in the organization on the alignment of department priorities.
- Implements and analyzes business opportunities when procurement synergies with
the market business unit supplier base are found.
- Lead RFP & contract negotiation and coordinate with all other cross-function team
to deliver procurement project that meet company objectives
- Lead the development of supplier database in the region
- Works with local / regional suppliers to develop quality assurance and continuous
improvement programs by sharing company standard operating procedures and
Corporate Social Responsibility programs.
Summary of Experience
- Purchasing in a manufacturing, consumer goods, distribution or service environment 8 years
- Supplier qualification and negotiations 8 years
- Working with automated procurement and inventory control systems 2 years
- Cross-functional team participation
