About the Organisation:
This is well-known consumer Electronics Company from Europe.

Key Responsibilities:
? driving company’s technical direction with regard displays, touch panels, backlight units and direct bond.
? you will lead a team of engineers and technicians whose focus is to understand developments in this technology area, leverage these technologies to add value to company’s products and to customise, develop and maintain new display solutions for our products
? keep abreast of new developments in display technology within the marine industry and within other industries
? develop and maintain a technology roadmap for display technologies
? provide insight for the larger R&D team on technical developments in relation to displays
? work closely with product management to identify emerging trends that can be incorporated into the product roadmap, and to identify new technology demands that the product roadmap places on company’s technical capabilities
? you will have close technical liaison and contact with display, LCD, touch panel and backlight vendors. you will audit the technical capabilities of these vendors
? develop new display “building blocks” to be injected into company new product development
? work with vendors, R&D, manufacturing and supply chain to ensure technical issues with current productions are solved quickly
? actively drive down cost of display solutions with continuous improvement initiatives

Key Requirements:
? bachelor in engineering or science or equivalent degree
? more than five years experience in display related technologies; strong technical understanding of LCD/Touchscreen technologies
? more than two years experience in leading technical teams
? good understanding of issues across all of the engineering functions involved in new product development - hardware, mechanical, optics, materials, software
? deep LCD/Touchscreen industry knowledge and connections
? experience in requirements capture / systems engineering
? excellent communication skills in order to build strong relationships with: vendors; Mexican based factory and display engineering team; wider R&D team based in us, Europe, Mexico & New Zealand
? ability to learn / understand the requirements marine products put on display technology. understand system trade-offs with regard hardware, mechanical, software functions in our products
? proactive and innovative problem solver
