Essential Responsibilities

Description:
The Software Engineer has responsibilities extending to the development of systems software within the P&L. Additionally, the position may develop distributed software applications for real-time critical motion control of subsystems.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
· Working closely with systems teams in requirements gathering and software design
· Interacting with global teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platforms
· Designing and building strong testing infrastructure to minimize dependency on hardware availability
· Leveraging DFR for software, Agile and Lean software development methodologies to drive reliability upstream into the product development life cycle

Quality Specific Goals:
1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
4. Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
5. Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related computer field
2. 3 year experience in software development
3. Software development cycle and automated testing experience
4. Experience in object oriented design methodology
5. Experience in programming with C/C++
6. Experience with Embeded OS like winCE, uCOS, Nucleus
7. Working knowledge in configuration management tools such as ClearCase, SVN

Qualifications/Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related computer field
2. Experience in software platform, advanced applications, user-interface design and/or systems engineering
3. Experience with UML
4. Experience with C++ for Nucleus
5. Experience in platform and application development
6. Working knowledge of LEAN processing
