POSITION SUMMARY

Purpose

To provide timely technical support to Pressure System Equipments in Asia with China Lu'an Purification Plant, as the primary plant.

Nature and Scope

This position will be responsible for:
Pressure System Engineer will provide on-going pressure systems support to Lu'an Purification Plant as the primary plant. Also provide support to other manufacturing facilities (Gases, Chemicals and Electronics) owned and operated by Global Operations in Asia, when required, along with the rest of the Pressure Systems group and GSS.
Responsibilities include Purification and ASU plant equipment inspection, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, design engineering, materials selection, fabrication and installation of pressurized systems.
Traveling within China and Asia will be required rarely.

Specific job dimensions
Primary responsibility to Lu'an Purification and ASU plants.
When required support other plants in China and Asia - More than 200 plants (including remote operating facilities) and operation include Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and India.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Troubleshoot Pressure System issues in the Operating plants – primarily Shift Reactors, Rectisol Unit, Desulfurizer Unit, Refrigeration Unit, Compression Unit and ASU plants at Lu’an Purification and ASU plants; other plants in Asia when required.
Inspect Pressure Systems (including Reactor, Pressure Vessels, Columns, Heat Exchangers, Fired Heaters, Reformers, Storage Tanks, Piping, Pipelines) during plant outages / normal operation and evaluate results for recommend repairs.
Develop repair procedures and inspection plan and provide technical guidance to plant operation / maintenance regarding inspection types and methods.
Technical review of Equipment modifications using Management of Change process.
Maintain expertise in existing and developing technologies associated with the inspection of pressurized systems (ex: Shear wave, Eddy Current)
Assist development of Pressure System Maintenance Plan and Mechanical Integrity program.
Design engineering of Pressure Systems including development of technical specification, review of strength calculation and fabrication drawings.
Develop inspection / test plans for fabrication of Pressure System equipment / Pipelines. Inspect during fabrication / installation.
Train Plant / Maintenance personnel on pressure system maintenance / inspection.
Input for development and maintenance of Pressure System standards, procedures, best practices, inspection contracts and contractor selection.
Participate at professional association meetings to determine best practices being used in the industry and apply them to our pressure systems.
Assume a role in incident investigations and Root Cause Investigations of incidents.
Any other duties as assigned


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Mechanical Engineering graduate (B. Engg, B.Tech, B.S.,) with 5 years of relevant experience in gasification / purification / chemical / refinery / gas plant maintenance / inspection / engineering.
Working knowledge of the GB, ASME and ANSI codes for design and inspection.
In depth knowledge and experience in inspection & testing techniques for reactors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, fired heaters, storage tanks and piping.
Knowledge in Corrosion Mechanism
Knowledge and understanding of local statutory / regulatory inspection requirements.
Proficiency in English speaking and writing.
Good interpersonal and coordinating skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels within the organization.
Desirable to have ASME / API Pressure Vessel, Piping inspection qualification.
Desirable to have material engineering knowledge


Organization Structure:

This position will report directly to the Asia Pressure System/MI Manger.
The incumbent will work closely with Plant Operation/Maintenance team, global / regional Pressure System / MI / Materials Engineering team and Plant Project Organization.
In addition interfaces with the following to achieve objectives:
Plant / Line Management
EH&S Auditors
Inspection Agencies / Companies
Professional Trade Organizations
Regulatory Agencies in China
