Role Summary/Purpose

Manage cross-P&L research portfolio at academic sites, helping GE and research collaborators meet mutual objectives. Oversee the activities and deliverables of the China global research organization. Primary role is program management and cross-functional research coordination.

Essential Responsibilities

Job Summary:
•Working with each P&L, represent GE as main point of contact for research, coordinating external investigators, GE scientists and clinical research associates in areas strategically important to GE, including technology development, product market registration and clinical evidence in support of product performance testing or clinical claims.
•Link with global team to drive process across all P&Ls and grow academic research presence by making GE the research partner of choice.
•Shall not have any sales or marketing responsibilities.

Essential Functions:
• Establish operating mechanisms with internal and external research professionals and P&Ls to execute research programs, resolve issues, track achievement of milestones and research deliverables, and payments for research studies.
• Work with product program leaders, segment and business leaders drive research that places local and imported products on the market and results in important contributions to scientific and technological advancements.
• Develop and maintain key academic relationships: Create a positive and thriving research experience. Nurture existing relationships. Identify and develop up-and-coming researchers or institutions with advanced research capabilities
• Drive compliance to segregation of duties and research spirit and letter including interactions with academic research collaborators and development of research agreements. Ensure compliance with all GE Company policies and regulations, as well as local guidelines with respect to research and customer interactions. Communicate and update GE’s position and requirements relative to compliance to collaborators as required.
• Consult with GE global research on legal, regulatory and compliance aspects of the total research experience with an emphasis on process speed and consistency.
• Be a source of external intelligence into GE Healthcare P&Ls, articulating academic institution’s vision, initiatives, and investment plans with respect to research.
• Assist GEHC China and GRO leadership in understanding the changing focus, needs, and expectations of key research partners and specific topics related to research in China.
• Monitor and apprise GE of competitive activities and inroads at collaborator sites, translating collaborators’ assessments of competitive advances versus GE for roadmap guidance.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelors in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to make sound decisions and Influence & convince global leaders
• Experience leading teams and working in global organizations, specifically across time zones and with remote leadership teams.
• Direct People management experience
• Program/project management experience with proven ability to manage budgets, resources and timelines
• Strong problem solving skill
• Experience in working directly with academic researchers
• Experience in medical technology & applications

Desired
• Good Clinical Practice training and/or experience in clinical trials research
• Experience working with Ethics Committees and regulatory agencies
• Advanced scientific, engineering, or medical degree
• Fluent in both Mandarin and English
