POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Herbalife is seeking an expert in the field of sensory science to support product development and innovation in our Asia Business. The successful candidate will have a strong background in sensory science as related to product development in the areas of foods and dietary supplements, He/She will be the regional lead in sensory science and part of the regional R&D leadership team. This position requires co-ordination with regional R&D teams as well as partners to help contract, design, execute, analyze, and report on the sensory needs of Herbalife in a timely and targeted manner across the Asia-Pacific region.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Lead regional R&D sensory needs for product development from onset through commercialization with expert technical and project management knowledge
Work with local and regional Marketing and Scientific Affairs team to design and implement research proposals that generate broader understanding of product preferences and usage patterns
Work with local and regional Quality and Manufacturing partners to ensure existing product portfolio organoleptic requirements are addressed
Co-ordinate global sensory input in regional cross-functional teams to innovate new products and categories, conducting competitive product profiling as needed in key markets
Identify and mitigate risks to ensure cost-savings
Mentor and train team members in Asia and abroad to continuously improve the skills of sensory staff
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
Expert in sensory research and related statistics
Able to predict and solve problems in a practical, timely and collaborative manner
Attentive to detail with exemplary organizational and time management skills
Able to generate and analyze data to drive correct decision making
Familiar with database and statistical software packages
Expert level of MS Office familiarity, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Fluent English and Mandarin speaker, both written and verbal
Experience:
5+ years of relevant experience in sensory research
Experience in leading sensory teams locally and/or remotely
Ability to navigate a fast paced environment with multiple stakeholder requirements and requests
Demonstrable flexibility in taking and managing multiple assignments under rigid time constraints
Education:
MS in food sensory science or a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Project management experience
Able to program databases in Access or Filemaker
PhD in food sensory science or a related field
Physical Demands:
Must be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers. ? Manual dexterity required. Light: Office work, some lifting, considerable walking
Work Environment:
The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated ? Noise levels are considered low to moderate
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and manage contingents, contractors, and eventually direct reports as the program evolves
