Key Area of Responsibility
PRP Supply Chain Project Mgmt
· Designs the architecture of the global supply chains in line with the BU strategy and the IS OPS strategy.
· Identify the impact of new products on the supply chain architecture in order to develop the architecture. Develop the required architecture and solutions, initiate the deployment and define guidelines for implementation.
· Typical of the supply chain architecting is the broadness of the role, the holistic view and the capability to take the BU and IS Operations strategy into account when designing and making decisions. The following levels are distinguished: Concept (What?), Logical (How?), Physical Implementation (With what?).
· Manages constant communications with other stakeholders (eg. supply chain segments, development, marketing, service, finance) to ensure that all supply chain processes are aligned and other related requirements and expectations are met.
· Drives make buy decisions and is involved in supplier selection process
· Leads, manages, coordinates with (worldwide) cross-functional groups the execution and release for New Product Introductions and Outsourcing
· Minimize and control risks of new products when these are transferred to the supply chain and production is ramped up (e.g. FMEAs, control plans, etc).
· Initiate and execute cost reductions
· Ensure a smooth ramp-up from production launch.
· Phase out old products and minimizing scrap costs
· Manage project assets and obsolete project inventories and left-over’s.
· Drives Product Improvements with regard to cost, quality and failure rate, implementing Design for Excellence principles.
· Develops and implements and manufacturing outsourcing.
· Proactively manages strategies and implementation of projects related to Material Obsolescence/Discontinuance.
· Major size, major complexity, major effort New Product Introductions:
· Scope is the complete End-to-End supply chain; a global supply chain is configured.
· Focus on multi Global MR sites. Challenges in this function are the cultural differences, different way-of-working- different IT systems, scattered IT landscape, etc.
· Project impacts Merge Centers, Internal/external Suppliers worldwide, global Project is a so called ‘System Project’ bringing products to the market
The project also impacts the sales catalogue
· Project involves almost complete product, typically >50 new materials
· Product is developed internationally involving multiple Design Centers like China, Netherland,United states
· Project is a vehicle to improve medium or major supply chain process improvements
Process Improvement
· Knows, is involved and contributes to projects for improving the new product introduction processes
· Knows, is involved and contributes to projects for improving the supply chain processes and infrastructure.
· Lead (breakthrough) projects for improving the manufacturability and new product introduction processes, implementing Design for Excellence principles, and identifying and managing significant material cost reduction opportunities
Role Overview
· Initiates and leads multi-disciplinary major supply chain engineering NPI projects and/or industrialization projects at business level in an international context.
Know-How
· Possesses broad knowledge of the business operational, tactical and strategically goals
· Demonstrates expertise in engineering
· Stays up to date on the industrial activities of competitors and industrial processes.
· Uses highly developed knowledge in area of specialty.
Problem Solving
· Has to think conceptually in scenarios that are in line with our strategy in order to make decisions together with management. Has to think out of existing concepts and processes.
· Provides expert resolution of issues and monitors integration of work.
· Introduces methods/procedures that are totally new for the organization, within also new processes, within the global organization.
Accountability
· Executes project deliverables
· Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the project, and preventing and solving all kind of operational issues. .
· A project takes at least between 4500 and 6000 man-hours of the SCTL and between 18000 and 22500 man-hours of various supply chain staff. (65 Euro / hour = >2M Euro per project)
· In charge of at least 2 large international projects of which one includes NPI and Supply Chain Improvement per year. Project lead time is on average 6-36 months.
· Number of subproject leaders: 3. Total project members more than 15.
Required Knowledge and Education
· Bachelor degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration with more than 5 years of experience within SC
· Good social and communicative skills, a good knowledge of the development organization, the global supply chain organization and industrial footprint and processes and the products.
· Knowledge of project management methods, costs estimation techniques etc.
· Excellent social and communicative skills, a good knowledge of the development organization, global supply chain organization and industrial footprint, processes and the products.
Challenges
· Expanding global industrial footprint. Increasing global spread of industrial footprint. Realizing PRP projects within an international and changing context. Communicating with different cultures in Asia, America and Europe.
· Increasing global spread of Development organization, more effort to communicate and bridge organizational and cultural distances between Design Centers.
· High complexity of and high number of interfaces within the internal organization
· Increasing no of products have to be introduced with shorter time to market
