Responsibilities:

• Identify all potential raw material suppliers across Asia/Middle East region (or any other competitive regions). Evaluate and approve them using a tool set including research, site visit, RFI and RFQ. Evaluated areas includes but not limited to Technical capability, cost structure, Manufacturing capacity / productivity / flexibility, Quality system, logistics capability, past performance, SHE (Safety, Health, Environment), and management efficiency.
• Work closely with global/regional category (procurement) managers to support global sourcing initiative to identify cost saving and/or supply security opportunities.
• Assist, as required, in negotiation and regular communications with Asia suppliers on behalf of global/regional category managers when language / communication / resource barriers exist.
• Drive through new supplier’s material approval process by working with various internal stakeholders including R&D, quality and SHE until the material is approved into SAP system.
• Build up and maintain supplier evaluation and approval database for responsible materials.

Requirements:

• Must have either a chemical degree or chemical working experience or both. Depending on other soft skills, a 5 year chemical experience is generally required. Advance business degree is a plus.
• Candidates with supply knowledge in Middle East & India will be a plus.
• Must have supplier engagement experiences like sourcing and purchasing. Some supply chain background is strongly desired. Manufacturing and/or logistics experience are also a plus.
• Comfortable with constantly communicating and working with people of various cultures and various types.
• Shanghai location preferred, but can by Nanjing or Suzhou.
• Extensive travel up to 50% within China mainland as well as Asia regions.
