Construction Estimator
Job Description and Qualifications
Dimensions: Financial
Total Value of opportunities in PDEP+ (1 - 2 at one time) Up to US$50m
Range of Opportunity Costs US$0.5mm- US$50mm
2.2 Non-Financial
Number of Opportunities managed 1-6 simultaneously
Duration of activities 1 week to 1 month
Number of Firm Bid estimates supported 7-15 per year
Number of Budgetary estimate supported 15-30 per year
Number of Project reconciliations supported 3-8 per year
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, 5days/week. Sometimes traveling after hours or during the weekend to a site to support the project assigned.
Position Summary:
The incumbents are accountable for all aspects of developing construction scope and resultant cost, for most phases of estimating. The activities include, identifying construction-related risk, reviewing the work of outside LDI’s who prepare construction scope and costs for Air Products, participating in negotiations with construction contractors, during execution phase, and developing construction productivity. All estimators participate in the maintaining of various cost databases for construction disciplines on a global basis. The work is performed to support all PST’s throughout Asia.
Functional Responsibilities
The focus of all Construction Estimators is the development of construction scope and resultant costs. The major responsibilities include:
? Preparing detailed take-off construction estimates, for all disciplines using the appropriate Construction Estimating method and or Computer System.
? Work closely with the Project Development Engineer, Construction Engineering, Procurement and Project Engineering in developing construction scope, costs and risks.
? Prepare construction labor surveys, by interfacing with construction contractors, Customers, etc.
? Review the construction estimating activities and results completed by outside engineering firms for all phases of a project, from initial bids to contract addendums.
? Ensure that the construction cost estimates used for funding requests are of sufficient accuracy to support our project execution budget performance targets.
? Understand and communicate construction environment issues that impact our projects and overall business.
? Collect data and maintain measurements to ensure continuous improvement in the speed and accuracy of developing construction scope, costs and risks.
? Monitor changes in scope during projects and support the Project Engineer’s forecasting efforts.
? Develop a team environment that facilitates creativity, innovation, continuous improvement and value engineering. Specifically through effective communications and leadership, create a safe and positive work environment, recognize all team members' contributions and involvement in critical decisions.

Technical Skill
Requirements: ? Engineering/project experience beneficial
? AP Cryo Systems/ or external Air Separation Company engineering experience is beneficial
Miscellaneous
Requirements: ? Reasonable English communication capability
? Candidate should have some commercial interest as well as the ability to multi-task, managing several activities at any one time. This position will offer you the development of a blend of technical and commercial skills.
Computer skills: Familiar with Microsoft Office as well as other estimating software programs
