BASIC FUNCTION
Plans market research activities in China. Responsible for creating and continually improving reliable and cost effective market information, analysis and forecasting system to produce forecasts on the PRC market. Responsible for conducting the information gathering activities on a sales, distribution, industry and consumer level and producing reliable, timely and cost effective results. With support from appointed research houses, provides counsel and assistance as needed to all other functions of Kohler China in the gathering, analysis and presentation of data.
RESPONSIBILITIES
? Responsible for initiating and conducting marketing studies of individual and regional markets for evaluating business opportunities including new product market research studies, branding and campaign effectiveness/creative studies, CRM studies. This is often done in conjunction with multiple marketing functions such as product marketing team, Marcom team, trade marketing team. Responsible for project definition, objectives, design, implementation.
? Responsible for conducting an ongoing analysis of distribution strengths and weaknesses, retail and channels, build and maintain Kohler users databank in cooperation with sales management team.
? Responsible for primary market research activities using outside consultants and research houses as necessary. Build up adequate vender resources for different type of studies.
? Responsible for implementing and continuously updating a comprehensive market information database to function as a primary tool for understanding market size, industrial trends including kitchen and bath market, housing market, government and macro-economics updates.
? Responsible for collecting, analyzing and maintaining a competitive intelligence system in cooperation with product managers.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
? Reports to Associate Manager-Market Research
? Continuous contact with Product Managers to provide Market Research support to their request for information or studies involving product preferences and acceptance in the market.
? Frequent contact with Sales personnel regarding pricing, research studies, product acceptance, sales objectives, etc.
? Moderately frequent contact with the Finance staff regarding forecasts, budgets capital expenditures.
? Moderately frequent contact with Advertising & Promotional Services regarding development and performance of programs relating to the international and domestic markets.
? Moderately frequent contact with Product Engineering at the Manufacturing Plants concerning product performance, product acceptance, engineering requirements, new product development.
? Some contact with customers in the accumulation of data or as a result of gathering data, and attendance at trade shows and special meetings.
? Frequent contact with consulting firms/research houses regarding assistance in performing special research studies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
? Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field.
? Minimum 2 year experience in market research in international research agencies or in client side.
? Experience in Sales, Marketing, Channel Management, and/or Product Development with progressively more responsibility and a track record of results is highly preferred.
? Good spoken and written English language skills
? Good command of the Chinese and English MS office software application.
? Detail oriented and thorough
