ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Acquires effective sales and technical skills and learns assigned group’s products and marketplace. Assists field sales personnel in providing technical services, conducting surveys and running field trails. Develops sales skills in preparation for future sales responsibility.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.Under direct supervision, reads assignments and answers questions in training manuals and learns the fundamentals of water chemistry as applied to the assigned group’ s marketplace. Learns and develops sales techniques particular to assigned group.
2.Accompanies various district sales personnel on sales and service calls to customer facilities and observes practical applications of sales techniques and products. Assists district sales personnel in servicing accounts.
3.As required, attends and completes any additional group training programs.
4.As technical competency increases, assumes assigned district service calls. Calls on customers and recommends changes in chemical dosages, flow rates or equipment. Monitors chemical inventories at assigned accounts. Reports changes or problems to District Manager or appropriate sales personnel.
5.May work with Applied Services on the installation and maintenance of chemical feeding systems.
6.Continually improves customer contact skills.
7.Provides service and call reports in a timely and orderly manner. Maintains accurate records during trials and surveys and prepares service reports.
8.Supports and is committed to Nalco’s Quality Improvement Process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work by “doing it right the first time” and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties. Applies the four Absolutes of Quality for internal and external customers. Participates in QES, QIT and QAT’s and develops and implements action plans, as required.
9.Support Nalco’s commitment to the guiding principles of Responsible Care®, and its six Codes of Management Practice, to continually improve Nalco’s health, safety and environmental performance, and company efforts to respond to public concerns relating to design, development, manufacture, storage, marketing, distribution, use and ultimate safe disposal of chemical products.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Usually an entry level position for the new college graduate with a technical degree desiring a career in sales.
