GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is an engineering customer service position. The Application Engineer is the lead engineering contact and works together with the Account Manager to provide the necessary service to the customer. The business situation and individual skills may dictate the method of meeting these responsibilities, but the end result will always be superior customer service and the advancement of the business. The Application Engineer is responsible for performing the necessary job functions needed to fully support customer projects.

· Work with Product Engineers in the design of Piston products to meet customer requirements.

· Communicate customer test requirements and publish customer test reports.

· As leader, initiate and perform tasks for the APQP process.

· Initiate analysis on returned product for failure mode and report results to the customer.

· Participate in the Request for Quote (RFQ) and Sample Order (SO) processes.

· Work with manufacturing facility to assure manufacturability of design.

· Travel as required to support the customer and to support/develop new opportunities.

· Actively participate in achieving corporate and divisional goals and objectives as to quality, cost, profit, return on sales, productivity, and customer service, adherence to budget goals.

· Have the ability to conceptualize new designs and concepts.

· Actively participate in technical societies as they relate to Piston.

· Work closely with Piston account managers and business managers developing specific customer account strategies.

· Have a proficient knowledge of internal and customer systems and how to use them to benefit the business.

· Have the ability to perform detailed customer presentations.

· Have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.

· Have the ability to evaluate the business issues and prioritizes activities.

· Communicate the changing needs of the marketplace to assist in the development of new products and materials.

· Share knowledge with and mentor other Application Engineers and Account Managers.

· Participate and contribute to Product Focus Teams objectives.

· Support Federal-Mogul Core Values.

· Driving to completion of all required skills and training requirements.

· Recognize that each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process and quality system and has the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected.

· All employees will abide by their location’s EH&S policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.

· Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in internal combustion, mechanical engineering, or material science.

· 5+ years related working experience in Automotive Engineering

· Have the ability to conceptualize new designs and concepts.

· Have a proficient knowledge of internal and customer systems and how to use them to benefit the business.

· Have the ability to perform detailed customer presentations.

· Have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.

· Have the ability to evaluate the business issues and prioritizes activities.

· Good English communication skill both in writing and oral.

· Have a proficient knowledge of internal and customer systems anhow to use them to benefit the business.
