JOB TITLE: Strategic Purchasing Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing
REPORTS TO: Strategic Purchasing Manager China
Purpose
- Strategically developing and maintaining reliable and constructive relationship with Asian suppliers for (die casting, forging, fasteners and bearing, etc.) commodity; skilfully sourcing requested powertrian parts at the most competitive levels of cost, quality and delivery standards, and effectively coordinating (die casting, forging, fasteners and bearing, etc.) commodity in Asia to support Powertrain's regional and worldwide business, and report to management.
Job Responsibility:
- Maintain close, cooperative and reliable relationships with existing suppliers
- Develop and establish constructive relationships with new potential suppliers
- Standardize benchmark RFQ's for Asia
- Generate, distribute and follow up with RFQ's sent to Asian suppliers and verify quotes
- Analyze quotes from vendors & potential suppliers, and prepare quote summary for management review
- Negotiate with suppliers for price/cost reductions, and other contract conditions
- Support European and North American Strategic Purchasing team on sourcing activities in Asia
- Support Powertrain's Asian plants on new program sourcing
- Coordinate re-sourcing programs with regional Purchasing team
- Analyze new trends in market & technology
- Support other functions, which need assistance and/or advice from purchasing - such as logistics, engineering, quality, marketing, etc.
- Track and report the planed cost savings from Asian supply base (incl. tracking of current surcharges)
- Various projects or tasks assigned by superior
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related area (or equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years experience in engineering/purchasing/trading of powertrain/drivetrain parts for vehicles.
- Strong negotiation skills, communication skills, coordination skills, and problem solving skills
- Can-do attitude, proactive team player and highly dedicated
- Fluent English in both speaking and writing
- Highly computer proficient with experience in the Microsoft Office Programs and purchasing software
- Travelling in Asia will be required
