* Position Purpose

The Supplier Engineering function typically: Assesses, qualifies, develops, and improves supplier capabilities for Machining, Ceramics, Sheet metal fabrication, plastic and polymer molding, contract manufacturing, special process or OEM suppliers. They analyze data and solve problems that prevent suppliers form meeting Applied Materials objectives. They review manufacturing and logistical processes requirements and specifications, reviews process techniques and methods applied in the fabrication of parts, Engineers may compile and evaluate test data to determine root cause of problems and recommend solutions they plan projects for supplier assessment and development and work closely with suppliers and commodity mangers to achieve desired results.
This position plans and executes process engineering projects of moderately difficult scope under minimal supervision. The primary focus of this position is to: assess supplier capability against well-developed standards and recommend supplier actions to meet these standards of performance. Engineers participate in the design of moderately difficult process engineering experiments , analyze results and compile reports on that influence business decisions at the Supplier and Applied Materials;


* Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assess supplier capabilities using well developed methodologies
2. Analyze supplier data to determine areas for improvement and prescribe action.
3. Troubleshoot, perform Root Cause Analysis, and resolve moderately difficult supplier process engineering issues.
4. Generate internal documentation for products, presentations, and technical reports.
5. Design Experiments that will determine process capability of suppliers and how it can be improved
6. Perform PQP audits
7. Work with suppliers receiving new business to make sure transition occurs without impact to quality or continuity of supply

* Requirements:

BS in Industrial/ Mechanical or related Engineering discipline, and
8+ years directly related experience, or equivalent.
Previous work experience: process engineering experience in a development or manufacturing environment.
