THE POSITION – Manager / Senior Manager, Strategy and Business Transformations, Greater China·Shanghai
Philips has embarked on a business transformation to unleash its long-term potential. Greater China as one of the most important markets for Philips is a key focus of this initiative. At Philips global level, this transformation is headed by Philips Global CEO. In China, this effort is under the leadership of SVP / Head of Strategy and Business Transformation, Greater China. This position will be an integral member of a team to drive strategy and business transformations in one of Philips three business sectors, Lighting, Consumer and Healthcare, in Greater China. This person will be reporting of (Senior) Director of Business Transformation.
Key responsibilities:
- As part of the strategy and business transformation team, take part in market and customer deep-dive to segment the market, to identify customer requirements in specific segments, and to benchmark against key competitors in core processes along the customer value chain, in a granular manner, together with the responsible business managers
- Together with the responsible managers, define the 3~5 year ambitions and corresponding strategies how to win in specific segments
- Together with the responsible business managers, identify roadblocks and speed-bumps in core processes along customer value chain that prevent Philips from achieving its ambitions in the priority segments against its competition. The person will be focused on one of the three core processes, such as Idea to Market, Market to Order or Order to Cash in this exercise
- Together with the responsible business managers, devise recommendations on required changes and improvement in the core customer value chain processes and map out detailed implementation plans, and support the execution over time
- Work with the global business process owners to help define Philips global business process framework
- Act as a change agent to help drive cultural change to make Philips a more entrepreneurial organization

- Business transformation is the most critical initiative at Philips with strong top leadership engagement. The members of this team will have substantial exposures to senior executives. The members will be provided with mentorship from the senior managers.
- The transformations are focused on most important businesses within Philips. The members of the team will be dealing with all aspects of customer value chains, from the perspective what a General Manager runs a business.
- The team will not only involve in strategy defining, but also in driving execution.
- Philips regards the team as a strategic talent pool to develop future business and general managers. Provided with outstanding performance, the successful candidate is expected to step into a business line role in three years.
- This position is a somewhat entrepreneurial role in the sense that the successful candidate will need to gradually shape his/her own role based on business needs.
Key competences / experiences:
- Solid experiences and abilities to integrate market and customer insights, competition intelligence and other business issues into a cohesive vision for growth, and link this vision into a series of initiatives and priorities that are logical and compelling.
- A proven track record of creating and articulating business strategy by strategically assessing market opportunities and analytically identifying key drivers as well as developing key initiatives to propel a business to the next level. Ideally, there should be previous examples of creating a breakthrough strategy.
- Solid domain knowledge and experiences (i.e. product development, product management / marketing, downstream marketing, channel management, solution sales, supply chain, business management, strategy, business development, etc.) in relevant and adjacent industries to Philips business sectors, such as Consumer, Lighting and Healthcare.
- Strong abilities to analyze and translate data and information into management and business decision recommendations
- Black-belt and similar training and experiences a plus
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, in written and verbal, in English and Chinese.
