Responsibilities:
A: Purpose and Scope
· The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing mechanical designs and performing basic analysis and testing for new product development across a $1B/yr security products business group.
· This person is responsible for developing designs for products and components to comply with functional and technical specifications. The products/components are mainly related to floor hinges, door closers and accessories.
· This person is also responsible to ensure that design work conforms to the company quality system procedures as documented.
B: Responsibilities
· Working closely with other Engineers and Project Managers to define product design specifications, estimating correctly time and effort required for the design tasks.
· Developing product mechanical designs, drawings to meet functional requirements defined by systems.
· Performing basic analysis of component designs for weight, strength, performance, life limits, etc. to optimize cost and quality.
· Prototyping and Testing.
· Following internal design procedures & documentation requirements.
C. Organization Relationships
· The Mechanical Design Engineer reports to the Product Engineering Manager.

Requirements:
A. Education and Training
· Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.)
· Excellent written skills in both English & Mandarin.
· Good oral English is preferred.
· Training in Six Sigma is desired.
B. Technical Requirements
· Minimum four years professional experience in mechanical design with a Bachelor's degree, or two years experience with a Master's degree.
· Must have experience of a whole product development procedure from design concept(s) to production.
· Experience and familiarity with security industry and products (door closers, locks, and hardware) is required. Design experience and knowledge with door closers and floor hinges is highly preferred.
· Must be skilled in Pro-E Wildfire 4.0 and Microsoft Office applications.
· Must have knowledge of GD&T, and familiarity to ASME Y14.5 preferred.
· Must be familiar with material science, particularly properties of metals. Familiarity with metal component manufacturing processes is desirable, including metal stamping, investment casting, powder metal, die-casting, forging, extrusion, etc.
· Experience with application of Six Sigma and tolerance analysis methods in product design is preferred.
· Prior business experience with North American or European companies is preferred.
