Purpose of the position:
The purpose of this position is to manage investment projects or process improvement projects in whole China as a Senior Process Control Engineer. This position requires planning and coordination of all activities related to instrument and process control engineering. As part of the overall Project Engineering Team the Senior Process Control Engineer acts as Lead Engineer and supports the Project Manager in charge of the overall EPCM - process control concepts, engineering, procurement, contracting and installation.
The scope of work for this position ranges from basic and detail engineering phases continues into the construction / mechanical installation in the field and supports the start-up team during mechanical completion, commissioning and start-up. -Support sales or marketing to compare competitors' products.

Principal Accountability:
Check and approve specifications and drawings for standard and special field instruments and carry out expediting, progress control and quality inspections at manufacturer's workshops.
Recommending, designing and requesting funding to implement instrumentation engineering necessary for efficient project execution.
Ensuring strict compliance with all relevant local and corporate standards, regulations and codes.
Quality monitoring of the engineering contractor's instrument design. Provide spot quality monitoring of the general contractor instrument engineering activities
Check compliance of the contractor's instrument designs with the process requirements and project design specifications.
Resolve contractor questions or problems and determine corrective action to minimize labour lost.
To assist with the definition and specification for all project instrumentation and controls including the areas of equipment selection, instrumentation installation, loop check and start-up.

Requirements:
The technical knowledge required for this position involves:
A thorough and in-depth understanding of process control engineering and installation for chemical plants and chemical operations as well as generally a very good understanding for specialized and related engineering areas such as process, equipment and piping in order to execute green-field projects as well as revamping projects.
Read and interpret all aspects of P&ID's.
Establishing PLC, DCS System with I/O Counts, auxiliary system design and Instrument equipment layout planning.
Capable of preparing and checking Instrument Data Sheets, Valve Sizing, Flow Calculations, Instrument Specifications etc.
Experienced in project engineering, preparation of inquiry documents and commercial/technical bid evaluation, and inter-discipline coordination is encouraged to apply.
Demonstrate knowledge of selection and sizing for safety related instruments design
Understand instrument design aspects with respect to installation details, location plans, wiring diagrams, junction boxes, marshalling panels and loop diagrams and digital communication networks (eg: HART, Modbus, Profibus)
Familiar with explosion proof instruments, intrinsically safe circuits and wiring design inclusive all relevant national standards.
Thorough working knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, etc. industry standards for electrical and instrument equipment and specifying and applying electrical equipment designed according to Chinese and European IEC standards.
a good understanding of the interdependencies between technical aspects, scheduling and financial matters.
Basic knowledge in operating and maintaining chemical production facilities and utilities.
Good experience in monitoring the quality of the piping design done by an engineering contractor and the managerial abilities to guide and supervise construction companies,
Knowledge how to cooperate within an interdisciplinary team of engineers, procurement and financial people as well as project owners
The typical role of this position is the one of a decision initiator, and in the function of a Lead Engineer a decision maker.
The Senior Process Control Engineer shares the financial responsibility for the Instrumentation project budget (for mid-size projects up to 5 m Euro, for large-scale projects up to 50 m Euro). With the decisions to be made on how to control chemical processes, the Senior Process Control Engineer influences the later operational cost significantly (in terms of e.g. operability, process and energy efficiency, maintenance efforts, reliability, etc.).
Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential to perform this job, especially due to the high coordination efforts with other disciplines relying on process control work, such as process, static and rotating equipment, piping, etc.
This position requires the ability to develop and assess alternative technical scenarios in order to overcome any kind of technical obstacles.

Mini Education level: Bachelor
Major preferred: Automation, Process Control, Electrical Engineering
Language skills: English Very Good
Minimum years in employment:10 years
Preferred industry experience: Chemical Industry, Chemical Engineering
Others:
University or Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
At least 10 years of professional experience as process control engineer in the engineering division for chemical processes, preferably at least the first 2 years of work in a Chinese Design Institute.
Sound knowledge of and experience with process control engineering for chemical plants including good knowledge in the related fields like process, electrical, piping.
Familiar with Chinese standards and codes and experience in their practical application during execution projects locally.
Very good English skills, verbally and in writing.
Ability to work in a multilingual and multicultural team.
