BASIC FUNCTION
Directs the Power Systems China Industrial Marketing and Marketing Service Organization consisting of product management, market research, product promotion, pricing, and technical publications. This position directs the development and implementation strategies within the Industrial segment so that the growth and profit objectives of the strategic plan are successful by preparing and coordinating annual and long-range marketing programs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
? Manage Product Managers in the program management effort to introduce new or improved products, perform cost analysis, and provide P & L projections to justify recommendations.
? Manage gross margin performance for the business through responsibility for all
? Conduct competitive analysis studies and prepare product and marketing information that supports the strategic plan of the industrial product line of Company Power Systems.
? Directs the identification and development of new and/or improved industrial power generation products, which satisfy market needs and are justified by return on investment.
? Directs the activities of marketing research involved in identification of industrial market potential, distribution trends, research, analysis of sales records, and problem identification which are in support of and at the request of Product Managers.
? Communicate with customers to determine new market potential and pricing necessary to expand market penetration within the industrial sector.
? Coordinate the budget for trade shows, conventions, and meetings to match the marketing strategies of the Division.
? Develop advertising and promotional programs designed to support and penetrate existing markets as well as new product introductions.
? Direct and plan training programs, which ensure that all customers have a comprehensive working knowledge of Company products.
? Maintain continual liaison with Corporate Advertising and Promotional Services in the preparation of advertising campaigns and promotional programs to ensure they are consistent with the Marketing Plan.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACT
Supervisory Relationships:
? Reports to Managing Director – Company Power Systems China
Organization Relationships:
? Frequent contact with Director-Marketing.
? Frequent contact with China Sales Organizations regarding market penetration, new product justification, promotional programs, and pricing.
? Frequent contact with Product Engineering regarding the development of new products, changes in existing products and generator development applications.
? Frequent contact with Division Purchasing to source components for existing and new products.
? Frequent contact with Manager of Advertising and Promotional Services and other departmental personnel regarding promotional literature, advertising material and generator displays and exhibits.
? Occasional contact with Director – Marketing Engine Division and other staff members relative to mutual shows, meetings and engine product needs.
? Frequent contact with Sales Director China and other Interantional marketing personnel to discuss activities regarding China market product planning.
? Occasional contact with Industrial Engineering to obtain information on tooling and design.
? Occasional contact with Legal Department regarding generator development and new products.
? Occasional contact with Human Resources concerning staffing and employee relation issues.
External Business Relationships:
? Frequent contact with Original Equipment Manufacturers in person, by phone and correspondence regarding new product potential and competitive information.
? Frequent contact with Distributors in person, by phone and correspondence regarding new product acceptance and competitive information.
? Frequent contact with vendors of components used for new and existing products.
? Occasional contact with Directors of Trade Associations to obtain market data and information on meetings, shows and conventions.
? Occasional contact with vendors through Purchasing and Engineering for technical data and field service experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
? Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree with masters in Business Administration or equivalent management experience.
? Minimum five years marketing and Sales management experience.
? Courses in Finance and Data Processing desirable.
