Position: Assistant Research Fellow in EU-China Science and Innovation

Qualifications:
Essential: A Bachelor’s degree with at least one year’s work experience or a Master’s degree in an applied scientific subject; Excellent Chinese and English communication skills; Training in social science interview techniques and analysis; Competency using Microsoft Office software; Experience of working in an international environment; Experience of conducting independent research; Experience of writing reports in English; High level of interpersonal skills; Well-organised and capable of prioritising multiple tasks; Able to work independently and at times under pressure to meet deadlines; A strong team player who works collaboratively in an international, interdisciplinary environment; Ability to act independently and on own initiative to changing circumstances and demands from colleagues; Be willing to travel extensively within China; Have the right to work in China, either through citizenship or by obtaining the required work permits.
Desirable: Training and/or work experience in Urbanisation, Food Security, Transport or Energy in China and/or Europe; Experience of social science interview techniques and analysis Ability to translate and interpret technical documents in Chinese and English in the mentioned areas; Experience of conducting research in these areas; Evidence of previous administrative role/ skills.
Contract Status: The post will be offered on a full-time, fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of two years.
Salary & Benefits: RMB102, 000 – RMB111, 000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify existing research projects in the areas of Urbanisation, Food Security, Transport or Energy within China and Europe;
- Conduct a mapping exercise of research in the areas of Urbanisation, Food Security, Transport or Energy in China and Europe;
- Conduct and analyse interviews with research funding organisations at city, provincial, national and international levels as well as multinational commercial organisations within China and Europe to identify scientific research priority areas of societal importance;
- Produce publications, deliver presentations and represent the DragonSTAR project at national and international meetings;
- Take the lead at UNNC in producing project progress reports as required by the European Commission;
- Undertake business trips within China;
- Proactively engage with the other DragonSTAR partners;
- Conduct any administrative and translation/ interpretation duties as appropriate.
