Job Title:Manager, Software Development Packet Services
# Positions: 1
Overview:
We are the largest communications equipment supplier focused solely on access and is aleading global provider of broadband communications access systems andsoftware. Our Unified Access portfolio allows service providers toconnect to their residential and business subscribers and deploy virtually anyservice over fiber- and copper-based network architectures. With more than 900customers – whose networks serve over 50 million subscriber lines in total –We are at the forefront of enabling the innovative ways that communicationsservice providers deliver advanced broadband services and value to theircustomers.
Responsibilities:
Lead and Manage the C7 Multi-Service Access (MSA) Packet Services team in the China Development Center (CDC)
Build and motivate strong technical teams by developing existing staff and growing staff when needed to meet development needs
Plan and manage Packet Services projects, provide technical direction, and coordinate efforts of software engineers, contractors, and CDC teams to execute to roadmap deliverables in a timely fashion delivering quality solutions from requirements through QA to the customer.
Work cross functionally to refine engineering requirements and coordinate development efforts
Marshal resources and coordinate resolution of critical field issues
Contribute to our continuous Engineering processes working to minimize defects, tighten development processes, and allow efficient field problem resolution.
Qualifications:
BS in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. MS preferred.
Strong interpersonal and people skills
Excellent written and oral communications skills in English
Experience working with virtual or remote cross functional teams
Experience leading engineering teams delivering complex embedded software solutions.
Ten years or more of applicable engineering experience in embedded telecommunications systems with experience in Broadband Access Systems a plus
Strong project management skills, including detailed work breakdown, critical path analysis, task assignments and tracking to schedule.
Understanding of software tools chains, issue tracking and SCM systems (such as gcc, gdb, Jira, java, GIT), experience with branch strategies for multiple release development
Solid experience with Ethernet Layer 2 switching and/or IP/Layer 3 services
Experience with some or all of the following: DHCP, IGMP, ICMP, RSTP, LACP, ERP, VLAN, MPLS, QoS/CoS
Experience with access technologies such as DSLAM w/xDSL, GPON, T1, POTs, etc. a plus
Some travel required (USA)
