POSITION SUMMARY



Purpose



This position is to provide advanced process controls design and process technical service to all AP – China wholly owned, JV and subsidiary companies as part of on-going productivity and technical troubleshooting initiatives as it pertains to Advanced Controls activity and projects.



Nature and Scope



This position is responsible for providing process and plant engineering advanced controls support to Nanjing OSC for our LASU, Generated Gases, Chemicals, HYCO and electronics production facilities and associated businesses in the China Region. The position needs both process and process control technical skill to support our OSC operations.



This position reports to the Regional Manager, PPE Advanced Controls – Asia.

Number of Facilities: 60+ supported across all businesses.

Productivity goals: $4MM + USD annually

Annual Sales support: $1.2 B+ USD annually



ACCOUNTABILITIES



1. Provide day to day technical support to OSC advanced controls applications. Include Advanced Controls applications monitoring and data management system development.

2. Provide first line support on plant optimization through advanced controls and data management services.

3. Provide Advanced Process Controls technical support to maintain efficient and reliable product supplies across all businesses in Asia, including ASU’s, Gen Gases, HyCo, Chemicals, Electronics, Helium and Package Gases.

4. Identify, develop and design improved operating and control strategies to achieve productivity targets. Develop tracking programs and metrics for plant optimization and efficiency, and controller on-stream. Monitor the targets against expected performance. Areas of emphasis include: manufacturing cost reduction, utilties consumption/cost/supply , production process reliability and capacity expansions

5. Providing advanced controls consultation and technical support to Plant Process Engineering teams and the GO Production organization, to help troubleshoot and resolve process operating problems, plant optimization controls and strategies, plant reliability and product supply issues.

6. Evaluation and development of new control strategies and data management tools with other engineering disciplines.

7. Develop advanced control project scope, estimate project cost and benefit, develop capital expenditure authorization document and propose appropriate execution strategy for best fit with resources and benefits case. Execute projects with small GO teams or as part of a larger GEO capital project team. Execute project work to the defined budget and agreed schedule.

8. Assist sites teams in monitoring energy efficiency relative to budget and drive year-to-year improvements in our LOX/LIN, O2/N2 and hydrogen facilities.

9. Provide Advanced Controls (MPC,IP21 & APACS) design, implementation and plant tuning support.

10. Provide technical and safety reviews for MOC’s and drive process safety compliance as part of engineering reviews.







JOB REQUIREMENTS



The position requires an individual with:



1. Demonstrated engineering and technical skills working hands on in an operating plant.

2. Demonstrated ability to work in groups, interacting with plant operators , process engineers, maintenance, production engineers , plant supervision and line management

3. Solid capabilities including organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) in English are essential to the position.

4. A minimum of a BS engineering degree (Chemical Engineering or Process Control ) and minimum of 7-10 years experience in Engineering and/or Operations is required.

5. Travel 30-50% of the time

6. Previous experience in field operations including, but not limited to, reaction, distillation, absorption, solids handling, heat exchange, utilities and process control and automation equipment ( Site instrumentation/DCS/PLCs) , and in plant optimization activities in a chemical processing plant environment a plus.

7. Fluency in verbal Mandarin skills a plus.
