POSITION SUMMARY
The position is responsible for planning, organizing and leading all technology aspects of Process R&D for the Asia Performance Materials. In this capacity he or she is accountable for growing and sustaining reaction engineering capabilities required to support Asia performance materials businesses through active research, new product introduction, problem solving and development projects.

The incumbent is expected to collaborate with functions (Supply Chain, E&M, GEM, GO , EH&S) and Asia businesses to identify opportunities where reaction engineering skills can be leveraged to drive operating costs down, increase asset leverage and expedite the commercialization of new products. He/She will lead a team of (~ 5) process technologists that conceptualize, develop and implement programs designed to pursue these opportunities. He/She is also expected to seek out new opportunities to leverage platform capabilities across the enterprise.

The Lead will directly supervise and mentor both junior and senior technical ladder scientists. He/She will work with them to manage a robust safety program, develop and communicate milestone plans, oversee the HRP process for the platform, and handle all related personnel matters. The incumbent will also work to enhance the communication, cooperation and collaboration between Asia and global team.

He/She reports to the Director of the Reaction Engineering in Performance Materials Technology and Director of China Technology Center

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Provide personal leadership to an aggressive safety program designed to maintain the excellent EH&S performance of the Asia Process Technology COE.
2. Develop and maintain state-of-the-art laboratory facilities that provide a safe and attractive work environment complying with all regulations and Corporate Standards.
3. Plan, coach, organize, lead and develop a diverse and effective technical staff of engineers, chemists and technicians through both recruitment and internal development.
4. Establish development and succession plans for COE staff, and oversee key skills identification and development.
5. Manage the team to work closely with ADTS, GO, PPE, Asset, EH&S, and Supply Chian to introduce the new products to local manufacturing sites.
6. Provide management and technical expertise to support Asia PMD plants to meet the business objectives
7. Proactively seek out new opportunities for the company to utilize existing laboratory capabilities
8. Proactively grow capabilities in China in order to effectively support the business growth in China
9. Lever platform capabilities to create new commercial opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent is expected to hold PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 8+ years of work experience, preferably in process engineering or related disciplines, including a proven track record in organizational development and leadership of technology teams.
