POSITION SUMMARY
Purpose
To lead sale of equipment activities across Asia for Generated Gases products up to 300MT/day in oxygen and nitrogen capacity, and 2,500NM3/Hour in hydrogen capacity. To achieve business goals, such as sustained growth in sales, profits, and returns, as agreed with the Business Manager, Asia Gen Gases Equipment.
Nature and Scope
The job holder is the assisting Gen Gas regional business manager for equipment in Asia and reports to the Business Manager, Asia Gen Gas Equipment. It is expected that the incumbent will work closely with the country Merchant, Gen Gas general and country managers across Asia to deliver regional results, while learning, then demonstrating excellence in all aspects of regional business leadership.
DIMENSIONS
The jobholder’s working dimensions include assisting Business Manager, Asia Gen Gas Equipment for the following:
1. Gen Gas SOE involving a range of plants and equipment for the supply of nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen and additional products as the expanding portfolio allows. The plants and equipment are based on the Gen Gas product lines, including Membrane, PSA, VSA, GN, HPN, HN, TN, ASU (<300 TPD), and H2 products (<2,500Nm3/Hr).
2. P&L responsibility for approximately US$25MM in annual revenue, and US$2.5MM in operating income. Individual marketing transactions range from US$250,000 to US$7,500,000.
3. Regional coverage for the Gen Gas Equipment business in Asia includes China, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and, prospectively, India and Australia.
4. Commercial leadership of directly reporting and cross functional resources in support of bidding and project execution, to include management of proposal budgets and all selling expenses related to the business and project performance.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The jobholder’s primary accountabilities include assisting Business Manager, Asia Gen Gas Equipment for the following:
1. Safety (personal and broader team).
2. Gen Gas SOE business performance in Asia, including achieving revenue and profit targets.
3. Gen Gas new business development in the region, including marketing, planning, prospecting, and bidding.
4. Gen Gas execution excellence in the region, including customer relationship management, commercial support to project execution, contract negotiation, and account management of delivered plants in terms of payment, proper after sales support and problem solving.
5. Leading the broader Gen Gas commercial team in Asia with respect to GG equipment sales, managing team resourcing, team building and development, all in coordination with country managers, the regional Asia GG GM, and HR
6. Implementing and reinforcing required work processes, such as EAR, PDEP+, S&OP and proper sales processes.
7. Serve as a regional single point of contact for the Gen Gas Equipment business, working with country organizations, adjacent MFOs, and the team matrix of Engineering (PDE and Projects), Financial Analysis, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and Human Resources.
8. Continuous improvement efforts to drive productivity and profitability.
9. Regular input to product development planning to ensure competitive, profitable and sustainable market positions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be successful in this position, the jobholder requires the following qualifications.
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering or business related subject
2. Minimum of 8 years experience in the gas business and project environment. Demonstrated sales and team leadership excellence
3. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with people from all cultures at all organizational levels, inside and outside AP
4. Excellent language skills. Able to communicate fluently in Mandarin and English.

To be successful in this position, the incumbent requires the following skill sets.
1. Leadership and Management Skills – ability to lead initiatives in business development and to manage a matrix team to achieve business goals.
2. Selling Skills – ability to interact effectively with customers and sell the advantages of our proposals to a positive conclusion.

5. Legal Knowledge - ability to conduct effective negotiations, and to put legal documents together. These include letters of intent, and complex contracts.
6. People Skills – ability to work with, and influence people of diverse cultural, and educational background both within and external to Air Products.
7. Commercial and Business Acumen – a sound understanding of the competitive environment and competence in putting a deal together under the general direction of a remote supervisor.
8. Language Skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the corporation, with joint venture partners, and client organizations.
