Job Description
The Microsoft Technical Systems Engineer is responsible for support of Federal-Mogul’s global Microsoft infrastructure. As a member of a globally distributed team he/she is responsible for the support of hardware, operating system, networking and infrastructure applications, thereby closely collaborating with other team members in the US, the UK and Germany.
The current environment is utilizing Microsoft Active Directory 2003, Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 and 2008 servers as well as SCOM, SCCM, OCS, Citrix, and VMware. This environment continues to change and develop with the addition of new technologies, this role is responsible for supporting all currently used technologies (including legacy) and all new technology moving forward.
Responsibilities:
? Responsible for providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 server support
? Manage support requests via ticketing systems. Interface with clients and the Help Desk for issue resolution
? Identifies and documents root cause analysis for incidents that result in a service disruption
? Participates in on-call support (24x7) to assist with troubleshooting, escalation, or recovery of failing equipment
? Supports and coordinates installation of server and desktop technology for new projects
? Develops and maintains procedures for equipment installation and configuration support
? Coordinates sharing of best practices and policies and procedures
? Provides support in the area of systems inventory data, and client agent communication.
? Provide data backup and restoration services in accordance to established policies ensuring Federal-Mogul’s data is protected effectively
? Support Disaster Recovery services across the region including return to normal operations following resolution of a disaster event
? Coordinating of all changes following the approved change control processes to ensure changes to the infrastructure that may affect the service are managed effectively
? Engaged with the IS Information Assurance Group to ensure compliance with internal IS standards relating to Infrastructure
? Engaged with the IS Performance Management Group to ensure that the desired metrics, relating to Infrastructure are met
? Engaged with the IS Global Network Team to ensure that the impacts of future changes are understood and the required capacities and skills are planned within the region
? Engaged with the Client Service Desk to ensure that all calls that can be resolved on first call are being handled effectively
Requirements:
? Experienced in managing 300+ Windows server
? Working knowledge of network protocols and standards
? Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems as well as Active Directory
? Working knowledge of hardware and hardware concepts
? Working knowledge of System Center Operations manager is a plus
? Working knowledge with VMWARE version 4 or higher
? Experience with Citrix is desirable
? Experience with Microsoft Exchange is desirable
? Extensive Microsoft operating system and network troubleshooting skills are essential
? Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation in English
? Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff and end-users
? Strong interpersonal skills
? Highly self-motivated and directed
? Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative global environment
? Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload
? Strong inter-personal skills, presentation and communication skills essential
? Being fluent in the English language is essential
Education & Experience:
? Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field.
? 4+ years experience in a Microsoft network environment
? Microsoft server or infrastructure certification is a plus
