POSITION SUMMARY
Our Client is a world leading trading group. They provide innovative solutions to customers across major market segments; including agriculture and food and energy and natural resources. They also provide risk management and financial solutions to both their customers and their own businesses in the markets of oil, gas, energy and resources.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Report to: Global Credit Shared Services Manager
Purpose:
Credit reviews require rigorous analysis and succinct communication of customer financial position, business prospects, sector outlook, deal structure, and risk and mitigation. The incumbent will work on a global portfolio of customers with an initial focus on Asian customers and perform credit analysis, risk monitoring and management reporting. The incumbent will work closely with both external outsourcing partners in India and internal Credit Relations Tags worldwide and report to the platform Global Credit Shared Services Manager currently based out of Beijing China. The incumbent will assist the Credit Shared Services Manager in managing the outsourcing partner relationship and ensuring service level agreement is met.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
50% Portfolio analysis and monitoring
Work closely with the Credit Shared Services Manager to:
· Independently perform credit risk analysis, due diligence on counterparties, propose appropriate credit limits to the Credit Relations Tag and review the established limits periodically per Credit Policy.
· Understand and assess the risks associated with the transactions entered into with the various counterparties and take these risks into consideration while assessing and structuring the limit needs.
· Conducts reviews and analysis of countries and sectors in which the counterparty operates that could have a potential impact on counterparty risks (regulations, overall market and other factors).
· Provide surveillance on assigned portfolio and notify the Credit Relations Tag of any significant deterioration in counterparty credit profile or exposure changes.
· Underwrite or provide guidance to junior team member on underwriting highly complex deals/structures and high risk counterparties.
· Review and amend the credit analysis prepared by junior team members.
· Work actively with the Credit Relations Tags to monitor the over limit and high risk exposures.
· Actively collaborate with the Credit Relations Tags worldwide.
20% Compliance and reporting
Work closely with the Credit Shared Services Manager to:
· Ensure compliance with various corporate policies, i.e. Corporate Credit Policy, Platform Credit Policies, Anti-Money Laundering Rules, etc.
· Prepare and/or supervise junior analyst to prepare global credit reports and communicate this information to global credit teams or as directly by Credit Shared Services Manager.
· Creation and maintenance of counterparty data in various credit systems.
15% Management of outsourcing partner relationship
· Independently monitor and track the quality of work delivered by outsourcing partners based on service level agreement and escalate any quality issues to Credit Shared Services Manager in a timely manner.
· Assist Credit Shared Services Manager in design of training programs and coaching junior team members/ outsourcing partners.
· Participate in global credit projects that will drive change in global system and process.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelors Degree in Business/Finance/Economics/Accounting or equivalent.
· Minimum of 7 years experience in commercial credit analysis, financial statement analysis, and industry sector analysis to determine counterparty credit risk and set credit limits within the trading/capital markets or with a financial institution.
· Minimum of 5 years experience with a multi-national company (MNC) or a global financial institution.
· A deep understanding of financial statement analysis.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Self-starter, ability to independently manage own workflow and priorities within a fast-paced work environment.
· Ability to adapt to changes.
· Ability to establish a rapport with external and internal stakeholders worldwide with minimal supervision.
· Must be a strong communicator able to synthesize detailed credit information into succinct credit limit requests, work with Credit Relations Tags worldwide (Geneva, Minneapolis, Houston, Singapore and China) and drive and coordinate global process improvement initiatives of the platform Credit Team worldwide.
· Excellent written and spoken English.
· Excellent written and spoken Mandarin/Cantonese.
· Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master of Business Administration or CFA designation.
· Oversea education or work experience.
· Experience with new system or process design and launch or change management.
· Experience with coaching junior team members.
· Good working knowledge of the capital and commodity markets including the energy trading markets, futures markets, derivative products, etc.
· Good working knowledge of derivative contracts such as ISDA or credit agreements
· Knowledge of quantitative modeling.
