A. O. Smith is a leading manufacturer of electric, gas-fired, solar, hybrid water heating appliances and water treating
appliances. We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of NVH Simulation Engineer, to be located in Nanjing, China. This is a full time industry position in a simulation, applied research, and product development environment.

Job Description:
As a Senior NVH Simulation Engineer, you will be a key member of the Simulation Engineering team. You will report directly to the Simulation Engineering Group Manager. You will be responsible for:

1. Performing fundamental analysis of parts/components/system on dynamics, structure optimization. perform
sensitivity analysis to establish effective/efficient approach for structural optimization and Vibration & Noise reduction;
2. Perform dynamic/vibration measurement and signal analysis for simulation result verification and vibration;
3. Planning and directing experiments related to designs and/or simulations;
4. Writing technical documentation and presenting technical reports;
5. Communicating effectively with technology, product development and platform engineering groups.


Minimum Requirements:
1. Master or above in mechanical or acoustic field with a strong mechanics /dynamics background, relevant courses on:
mechanical vibration theory, vibration & noise controlling;
2. Demonstrated applied research capabilities, technical presentation and technical report writing;
3. Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal);
4. Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously ;
5. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment;
6. Practical sense and discerning ability (good judgment) ;
7. A willingness to travel;
8. Good team player.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:
1. Hand-on experience in ANSYS finite element analysis with strong problem-solving skills;
2. A minimum of two years of related hands-on NVH experience in industry (or academia) ;
3. Strong background in simulation in one or all of the following: modal analysis, and vibration/dynamics modeling,
Linear/nonlinear structure analysis;
4. Experimental vibration testing and dynamic signal analysis background will help the candidate.
