Report to: Plant GM
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement, supplier quality.
2. Develops and administrates programs to continually upgrade supplier performance and participate in improving quality, cost and parts/service availability.
3. Manage the team to recruit and maintain suppliers who provide high quality products and services at best costs while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
4. Achieve objectives in support of the AOP, as well as contribute to the development, monitoring and achievement of annual budgets.
5. Maintain systems and procedures to support the sourcing function and evaluate vendor quotations that utilize appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
6. Contribute to the formulation of global commodity strategies with NA/EU procurement team.
7. Identify regional commodity sourcing opportunities, overseeing all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
8. Continually monitor price variations taking advantage of lower costs and developing alternatives/actions when cost increases become apparent.
9. Vigorously participates and maintains an effective cost reduction program throughout all direct and indirect material purchasing activities and imparts cost savings philosophy to entire subordinate staff.
10. Generates meaningful and timely reports/data related to direct material purchasing activity so that problems are brought into sharp focus, pinpoints areas for potential cost reductions, provides gauge of progress and enables management and others to keep tabs on quality of service.
11. Oversees and participates in areas of vendor negotiations and selection assuring a fair and equitable distribution consistent with policies, cost, delivery service and customer requirements.
12. Reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
13. Designs, implements, manages, and monitors weekly and monthly reporting systems.
14. Prepares purchase forecasts and expense budgets that meet and/or improve requirement/needs.
15. Assign work to the appropriate personnel.
16. Is available to work all hours necessary and travel domestically and internationally as needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
The Successful Applicant
1. You will identify, negotiate and manage your suppliers with consideration for the requirements of your internal customers across the different Chinese sites
2. You will lead supplier launch coordination with local manufacturing sites in alignment with global purchasing commodity teams.
3. You will Support respective project prototype sourcing and purchasing requirements.
4. You will Support improvement of supplier launch process for successful transition into production and support lean manufacturing needs in alignment with operational expectations for packaging, delivery and inventory management.
5. You will Liaison to business units, as required.
Profile
6. You have a university degree in engineering or equivalent experience
7. You have several years of relevant working experience, preferably within the purchasing area in a multi-site environment
8. Additional experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset as well.
9. You are familiar with contract negotiation
10. You are fluent in English & Chinese.
11. You have excellent negotiation skills and are able to communicate on all levels in the organization
12. You are capable to initiate, lead and follow up on team activities
13. You are analytical and a good time manager
14. You are willing to travel up to 40 %
15. You are stress resistant and able to prioritize
16. You have the ability to use SAP
17. You need demonstrated ability and skills to support automotive OEM product launch process (i.e. NPIS or equivalent, APQP process knowledge).
18. You are strong team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
