Applications are invited for a post based within the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) research group at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. The successful candidate will undertake research and knowledge transfer on power electronics for industrial and transport applications. Research will cover both low- and high-TRL, dealing with the optimization of power electronics topologies for energy conversion, storage interface, grid-conencted applications and electrical drive system.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the PEMC Group, which is internationally renowned for research in power conversion, electrical power systems, power device and packaging technologies, electrical machines technology, industrial ac drives and energy systems.

Candidates must have a good (2.1) first degree (or equivalent) in electrical/electronic engineering or a related subject; a PhD or equivalent and research experience in the control. A good working knowledge of power electronics topologies, with proven experience on dc-dc converters with high-frequency transformer isolation, multilevel converter for grid-connected application is required. Familiarity with the electrical machine control, in particular permanent magnet electrical machines, is also required.

The preferred candidate should have a relevant industrial experience, in particular for the power electronics converters layout realization, assembly and testing, as well as the capability to write algorithms in C-code for Digital Signal Processors or VHDL for FPGA. Experience with industrialization of prototypes and Electro Magnetic Compatibility is also preferred.

The candidate is expected to carry out research in the field of power electronics, for this reason a track record of high-quality publication will also be a preferred requirement. It is also expected that the successful candidate will demonstrate high level communication and organisational skills and an aptitude for liaison with the industrial partners.

This full-time, fixed-term post is available immediately and will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of 2 years. Salary will be within the range of RMB364,231 – RMB464,861per annum depending on qualifications and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance).
