Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Work in partnership with global and local business stakeholders to support the execution of the Global Trade Compliance strategy for Mainland China

2. Serve as single point of contact for all import and export trade related matters in Mainland China

3. Work with logistics operation team and manage activities of customs brokers and agents to ensure timely border clearance

4. Manage US-China duty exclusion programs for BEC Chinese legal entities and maximize duty avoidance on our imported material

5. Maintain and publish operational and compliance metrics relevant to Mainland China operations

6. Act as GTM Super User and collaborate with IT on any compliance automation initiative - including User Acceptance Testing, change management, and implementation

7. Leading process changes related to the management and oversight of our customs brokers and agent rationalization project

8. Support the rapid expansion of our China export control program

9. Provide training to local business partners on relevant trade related topics in close partnership with BEC GTC and Dx Platform Teams

10. Work with logistics operation team and customs brokers and agents to manage the Government permits or licenses application process where needed to facilitate seamless exports and imports

11. Provide direct support for our legal entities in Mainland China on any Customs audits and/or any other relevant government agency inquiries

12. Conduct business reviews with local stakeholders on an ongoing basis to drive continuous improvement and ensure corrective actions are implemented, when necessary

13. Support cross-functional initiatives with Tax, Legal, Logistics, IT, Distribution, and Finance teams to provide strategic input into supply chain decisions

14. Partner with Dx Trade Compliance Legal as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues or address any regulatory queries/actions
    

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent and minimum of 5 years of import/export operations and/or trade compliance experience specific to China. Bio-science degree will be preferred.

2. Knowledge of China import/export compliance regulations

3. Comprehensive knowledge of import/export operational process and customs requirements including: HTS/ECCN classification, Country of origin determination and Custom valuation principles. Experience in Bio-science or healthcare industry ( such as IVD, Pharmaceutical company, Bio-Pharmaceutical company) will be preferred.

4. Familiarity and/or experience with lean manufacturing, kaizen, Six Sigma or similar type of continuous improvement principles

Desired Experience, Skills

1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global team environment;

2. Experience supporting both import and export regulatory compliance programs;

3. Working knowledge of import license of animal components and biological related products;

4. Ability to communicate (verbal, written) effectively in English across multiple levels;

5. Applies a sense of urgency to resolve problems and supports root-cause analysis;

6. Ability to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision;

7. Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize and be adaptable;

8. Solid interpersonal communication and analytical skills, including experience with communicating with others from different countries and cultures;

9. Experience working in the healthcare industry preferred.
