SUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION:

  

  

The primary responsibility of Advanced Software Support Engineer is to remotely provide support for Rockwell Automation Advanced Software installed in customer’s environment and eventually help customer solve their problems/questions or product issues. This position works extensively in the software environment based on infrastructure(Operation System, Network and Server/Client, Firewall, even Database, etc.) as well as automation control based on control infrastructure(PLC, Smart Industry Component, Drives, Electronic Operator Interface, Industry Control Network, etc). This position requires self-initiative, ownership, prefer to have excellent soft skills(listening, Skilled Communicating, etc), and also require a drive to follow issues to resolution, commercial sensitivity, and superb attention to detail, responsiveness, collaboration, technical expertise, and business acumen.

  

  

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION

  

  

• Proficient speaking in Japanese and fluent in English.

  

  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Automation Control or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information System Engineering (other degrees considered based on relevance to role).

  

  

• Provides troubleshooting assistance/technical support remotely via telephone and email on Rockwell Automation Advanced Software to Rockwell Automation field service personnel, distributors, integrators, and customers. Work with other engineers, manage multiple issues with changing priorities and deal with high pressure situations successfully.

  

  

  

  

• Capable of investigating and verifying reported product problems in software and documentation. Document the problem, work with appropriate group to resolve the problem, and follow up with the Rockwell Automation representative or customer when the problem is solved.

  

  

• Provides documentation of all actions taken in the appropriate systems, set expectations with customers and follow-up on an action item or activity needed to resolve a problem being experienced by a customer. You will update and author Technical Notes and other documentation to inform Rockwell Automation personnel, domestic or international, of solutions to commonly experienced problems, work around, installation practices that create problems, etc. to improve customer satisfaction and acceptance.

  

  

  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

  

  

• Understanding of Rockwell Automation Advanced Software products including but not limited,

  

• HMI/COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE

  FactoryTalk Gateway, FactoryTalk View SE, FactoryTalk ViewPoint,ThinManager

• INFORMATION SOFTWARE

  FactoryTalk AssetCentre, FactoryTalk Historian, FactoryTalk Transaction Manager,FactoryTalk VantagePoint.

          

• 5+ years’ experience troubleshooting, implementing, and/or design of industrial process and/or automation systems. Knowledge of manufacturing with core tools such as Programmable Logic controller, HMI/Visualization Software, Real Time/Relational Database(Historians/SQL).

  

  

• Programing capability in somewhat with VBA/VB.Net and/or Java, or software developing experience, independently complete a code module bridging/interfacing with other application in using Advanced Software, such as querying history data from SQL server in FactoryTalk Vantage Point .

  

  

• Network knowledge in somewhat, such as LAN & VLAN, switch port configuration, OSI model, understanding DHCP, DNS, application protocol port#, firewall in some degree.

  

  

• Possess technical expertise for at least a variety of Windows Operation System support, understanding AD, Windows firewall, KMS service, WSUS service.

  

  

• Hypervisor knowledge, in somewhat familiar with VMWare vSphere (ESXi), VMware vCenter, be able to create VM template independently with VMWare platform.

  

  

  

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

  

  

• Ability to handle high pressure work conditions.
• Commercial Skills in somewhat.
• Good Interface between Business Units
• VMWare Certification (VCA/VCP)
• SaaS experience and skill
• Experienced in ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: PLC, SCADA, HMI, EtherNet/IP, especially programming, software troubleshooting, Visualization HMI design & programing for automation project, and installation.
