University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Specialist in China Beacons Institute.

Your Responsibility

Your key responsibilities include:

• Plan, develop, recommend, implement and evaluate policies, procedures, and programs related to health safety and security arrangements and procedures on facilities and operations to meet the aims, objectives and the needs of the institute.
• Lead the planning process for all major activities at the institute identifying the security and safety issues for conference/events, projects such as building renovation, construction, contractors or vendors performing work, etc.
• Plan and execute surveys, audits, and inspections of instruments, laboratories, and other facilities to ensure compliance with government and University policies and procedures.
• Ensure students and new researchers are trained in techniques and the safe and effective use of equipment to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
• Ensure appropriate emergency procedures are in place for activities across the institute, and are adhered to as expected.
• Implement a scheme for hazard and accident follow-up. Ensure accident/incident reporting and investigation is thorough.

About You

• Bachelor or above degree in safety engineering/management, public health and/or environmental sciences or equivalent degree is required.
• Demonstratable sound judgment in enforcing university regulations and security policies and practices, while maintaining confidentiality in police and/or security matters.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety Regulations and policies in working environment. 
• At least 3 years relevant work experience in the field of EHS/security, risk management.
