OVERVIEW/SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Sealed Air is seeking a driven individual to focus on developing new products for the packaging industry with the ability to understand packaging materials interaction with the customer’s packaging equipment and the packaged product. In addition to the development of new product solutions, this role is tasked with supporting our base of business by training, trouble-shooting, and communicating the performance of our solutions to both internal stakeholders and our customers. The qualified candidate will be responsible for using heightened curiosity to develop test plans, conduct fitness-for-use testing, practice good project management skills, communicate results and make expert recommendations on path forward to customers, their team, and key stakeholders.  This individual will also be responsible for engaging with equipment and materials team, field support and sales, customer service, and supply chain to ensure existing products continue to meet the high standards of Sealed Air Corporation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop new packaging solutions and concepts (materials and equipment) working within a team environment to address real world problems.
• Propose and implement strategic ideas that drive the enhancement of current product lines or the development of new product lines to drive increased profit based on a detailed understanding of materials, equipment, and customer operations.
• Provide technical solutions to customers, external vendors, field representatives, and the broader Innovation & Development organization through on-site customer support and visits to other Sealed Air facilities.
• Develop, design, and conduct trials that validate the reliability of the equipment, materials, and their interactions in order to provide the most robust solution to our customers.
• Produce high-quality results and provide technical documentation that enables data driven business decisions.
• Create customer intimacy by utilizing soft skills, sales skills, and influencing techniques to drive collaboration that speeds up the implementation and growth of Sealed Air’s solutions.
• Manage projects to enable supply chain improvements to manufacturing processes and raw materials by quantifying the impact of these changes on the performance of the materials.
• Create value-propositions and competitive intelligence for Sealed Air’s developmental solutions driving credible project definition and scoping documents.
• Develop front end intelligence gathering on the customer’s floor driving the next innovations for Sealed Air.
• Work effectively within a matrix managed organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science Degree in a science, engineering or packaging discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in packaging industry. Sophisticated in AutoCAD, AI, or Solidworks
• Patent research and application experience is preferred
• Flexible travel domestically and internationally
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience creating data-driven reports to communicate technical ideas

• Ability to effectively present concepts and ideas
• Experience managing multiple tasks, often with competing deadlines
• Professional, highly-motivated, reliable, and solutions-orientated
