Purpose

Asia Technology Center has an open position for a Lab Operation Technician to assist research and development (R&D) development for Industrial Gas application technologies. The operation technician’s main responsibility is to monitor and operate the facilities of work platforms, often working in cooperation with technology R&D and engineering teams. He/She need to maintain lab operation integrity and ensure a reliable availability of equipment/instrument/facility/utilities for daily R&D activities. They do this by troubleshooting mechanical problems and performing maintenance to reduce rig downtime.

The qualified candidate is expected to ensure EHS compliances within labs/office, maintain functional and presentable laboratory setups, repair equipment/instruments, ensure reliable availability of facilities/utilities. And sometimes the Lab Operation Technician also needs to support application development efforts in lab with engineers and other R&D technicians.

The position is based in Shanghai China, with <10% travel in Asia.

Primary responsibilities

• Work with R&D and engineering teams to meet the facilities / utilities established safety, environmental, operating and maintenance goals and objectives;

• Assist R&D engineers / technicians, perform operational activities required to support start-up, shutdown, and normal operation of lab equipment and systems. Respond to abnormal operating situations in a safe and environmentally conscious manner;

• Report equipment conditions or other facilities/utilities/instrumentations anomalies that could affect the plant status to the supervisor. Work with company Facility Management and continuously improve lab facilities / instruments / utilities efficiency. Be responsible for all lab facilities / utilities services and maintenance;

• Work with R&D and engineering teams, perform routine laboratory maintenance, ensuring the safety of laboratory operations and 5S housekeeping;

• Represent APs in the frontline to lab external vendors, ensure the lab safety operation via preparing safety documents, conducting safety training and on-site process monitoring etc.

• Support R&D engineers and technicians to order, receive, and inspect inventory materials, chemicals and laboratory equipment etc.;

• Work with R&D engineers and technicians, support trials and customer demo;

• Ensure proper usage/storage/dispose of any wastes;

• The position requires a technical degree or official certificate in electrical, electronic, mechanical technician, and safety management, with >3 years of industrial experience in advanced equipment manufacturing, equipment testing and qualification control, industrial building/plants/labs facility maintenance, or related fields;

• Must be an experienced technician with strong engineering, mechanical and execution skills, preferably with a high degree of hands-on practical experience in industrial lab or plant;
