BASIC FUNCTION

Accountable for the coordinated organization, strategy, direction and implementation of a portfolio of projects and activities that together align with the business needs and achieve outcomes / realize benefits that are of strategic importance.  Responsible for executing the New Product Schedule utilizing cross-functional resources and the NPD process for all faucet lines globally.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Manage cross-functional teams through a defined and gated NPD process to include project timelines and maintaining it through the life of the project.  Ensure high quality products are developed, built and shipped on time as defined by the commitments documented in the New Product Schedule.

 

• Autonomously manage the development process and communicate to senior management on a variety of processes and technical issues within each program.  Has respected knowledge of major system components.  Anticipates and manages tasks/risks within each project. 

 

• Defines decision-making process for project teams.  Coaches project team personnel to develop and implement cross-functional solutions to complex issues.

 

• Makes informed decisions in the event that the project team cannot.  Decisions made are critical and have significant financial and schedule impact to the program/company.

 

• Manages multiple projects simultaneously (i.e. Program) and communicate progress to executive management.

 

• Establish and maintain relationships with senior management for the purpose of aligning NPS objectives and removing obstacles for project completion.

 

• Drive each Program to defined metrics.

 

• Provide performance expectations and evaluation for cross-functional resources on project teams.  This input will be provided to the appropriate supervisor and will have equal weight with that of functional performance expectations and evaluations.

 

• Work with senior management to continually improve the NPD process and organization.

 

• Develop and manage the project budget with the team including development expense capital tooling and expense tooling.  Guide the team to develop new products that meet cost targets.

 

• Regularly provide feedback and solutions for process improvements including the New Product Development process and manufacturing processes.

 

• Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced team members as needed.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

            Supervisory Relationships:

1.    Reports to Director-Program Management

 

           Organization Relationships:

1.    Frequent contact with Marketing to coordinate Voice of Customer needs, New Product Schedule and completion of project business plan activities and solicit Marketing input throughout projects.

2.    Frequent contact with Global Design Engineering to coordinate design phase of projects and review designs for manufacturability and assembly.

3.    Frequent contact with Industrial Design on product/component aesthetics as it relates to project timelines and manufacturability.

4.    Frequent contact with Purchasing to coordinate sourcing of components and exchange critical project cost, design and timing information.

5.    Frequent contact with Manufacturing personnel to coordinate cost estimating, material routings, tooling & fixture building, pilot and production build of components and final sku’s.

6.    Frequent contact with Accounting to creae and manage a business case, exchange product cost data, capital request ACT data and charge account information.

7.    Occasional contact with Legal with reference to patent applications and infringements.

8.    Occasional contact with Communications to coordinate products for photo shoots, etc.

         External Business Relationships:

1.    Contact with suppliers/vendors to exchange information regarding component status, costs, design, or timing.

2.    Contact with consultants and outside engineers/firms to exchange information regarding project status, product design, materials or processes.

3.    Attend related trade shows and seminars to investigate new materials, products and processes.

4.    Occasional contact with customers in the field on targeted assignments.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor’s degree in a product development related discipline (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, or Design); MBA preferred.

2. 5-10 years of experience in project or program management. Results must demonstrate an ability to build teams, make sound decisions and drive action across geographical boundaries & cross functionally.
