Position: Procurement Engineer, Air Purifier (Sr. Manager Level)

Location: Shanghai

Procurement Engineering is the set-up of Procurement in the business covering procurement processes in I2M, M2O and O2C. Accountable for the business related Procurement KPI’s such as BoM savings and Global Supplier Rating System score.

Procurement Engineering covers the in-depth understanding of the product context ‘End to End’ and delivers the business procurement strategy including the strategic cost management vision to the commodities.

PE owns the DfX concept and ensures alignment with all other functional disciplines to make this happen and also ensures the early involvement of the supplier in all new product creation process steps. PE also delivers added value by bringing the entire Procurement network (CM, PE, MP, Gov and Support) to the equation.

In this role, you have the opportunity to

• Provide AOP savings through cost down projects and new product introduction projects
• Be a key partner in significant product cost reduction activities, in early phase innovation or in the manufacturing phase.
• Contribute to developing the cost engineering function.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure that optimized TCO (cost, quality, availability) are assured in product and business creation and through their full life cycle, utilizing DFX.

• Drive the sourcing plan, leading supplier selection and ensuring adherence to the Business Procurement strategy.

• Drive early supplier involvement and identifies cost drivers to influence design decision making and achieve target costing.

• Collaborate with Supplier Quality in the new supplier/component release process, including compliance and sustainability aspects.

• Support price negotiations with opportunities to drive short and long term cost reduction improvement.

• Cost down projects and new product introduction projects executed for assigned product portfolio.

• Address problems with unique and/or cross functional implication.

• Evaluate supplier manufacturing systems and processes and subsequent data collected for the purpose of analysis.

• Maintain updates to the costs for assigned product/module and ensure that cost models are up to date and information is available as required.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

• BS or above in Engineering discipline, major in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering is preferred

• More than 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain, Procurement related functions in sizable MNCs, past experience in manufacturing, Engineering, project management, quality or related functions in high volume assembly-type industry such as consumer products is preferred.
• Understanding the principles of Value Engineering and the materials / goods flow
• Understanding the principles of Executing Cost Down projects and new product introduction Projects
• Strong in technical and Procurement or other relevant commercial skills, Deep knowledge of the long term structural cost drivers for the assigned product.

• Motivated, self-driven with a determination to succeed and the ability to manage change.

• Strong stakeholder engagement and management.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Chinese language are required
