Position Summary
*** is seeking an experienced marketer for the role of Head of Consumer Marketing for itsexpanding business in China, which is part of the company's new Global Expansion business unit within *** Marketplaces.
The successful candidate will work on all marketing aspects of the ***'s consumer initiatives in China including ***'s partnership with and presence on a third-party Chinese ecommerce platform (the "Partner"). This person will support the VP, China Geo expansion while being an integral part of the Global Expansion Marketing team.
This is a highly demanding and versatile role in which the successful candidate will shape ***'s marketing to Chinese buyers, playing a crucial role in establishing *** as a leading ecommerce brand in this fast growing market.
The successful candidate will possess a deep knowledge of the Chinese market and be proficient with integrated multi-channel marketing for online brands.
This position will be basedin Shenzhen, China,with occasional requirement fordomestic travel as well as international travelto Zurich (Switzerland) and San Jose (California).
Primary Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will focus on marketing ***'s consumer initiatives in China (including ***'s presence on the Partner's ecommerce platform as well as future products and experiences off the Partner's platform) with the objective of makingthem commercially successful as well as establishing the *** brand as the leader in Chinese ecommerce.Specifically the successful candidate will:
Understand Chinese consumer needs, be able to articulate them in a succinct, prioritized and vivid manner to all stakeholders,be an internal advocate for the Chinese consumer
Own the Chinese retail calendar that dictates the timing and content of domestic marketing communication, own the Chinese marketing objectives, priorities and plans, be accountable for the Chinese marketing and business results
Collaborate intensively with ***'s China Partner as well as the Global Expansion Strategic Marketing & Brand team on creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for China, inputting understanding of local consumers, local competition and local media landscape
Direct the team of threeShenzhen-based marketers-one Internet Marketing (IM) Manager responsible for Chinese marketing partnerships and affiliates, one IM Media Buyer and one Relationship Marketing (RM) Manager responsible for Chinese onsite marketing and direct mail content and merchandising. Collaborate intensively with these marketers' functional managers: Global Expansion Marketing Heads of IM and RM based in Zurich
Play a key role in selecting the right agencies to serve *** in China (above-the-line creative, offline media, digital creative, digital media, etc.), manage the day-to-day Chinese agency relationships
Understand and leverage best practice in country marketing activities across the Global Expansion region, partner with other *** marketing and communications leaders
Job Requirements-Experience
10-12+ years of consumer marketing experience across brand management, digital marketing and/or agencies in China; ecommerce experience is a plus
Hands-on experience with multiple marketing channels a big plus (incl. online channels, social media, mobile)
Extensive experience leading strategic and tactical marketing campaignsthat drove proven business results. Marketing experience for an online brand a plus
Seasoned manager of agencies, intimately familiar with their processes and expert at getting agencies to deliver the best work on time and on budget
A leader with a people management experience, managerial maturity and proven track record of hiring and developing top performers
Proven experience of managing and delivering highly complex projects (on-& offline), working across multiple cross-functional teams, geographies and management levels, often getting "buy-in" from multiple stakeholders and partnering with senior executives
A comfortable public speaker with experience of representing groups in public forums
Job Requirements-Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
Extreme customer-centricity, ability to tease out and build on customer insights
Team player who partners extremely effectively across the organization, geographies and cultures, building and maintain strong working relationships
Superior project management, team management and agency management skills
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
Highly developed analytical, communicationand presentation skills with a keen eye for detail
Self-directed, self-starter with high intrinsic motivation to deliver outstanding results
Fluent verbal and written English and Mandarin Chinese essential
