Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Parts and Service Sales Representative. As a Parts and Service Sales Representative, you will assist dealers to maximize the profitable sale of parts and services within an assigned service territory. Accountable to enhance customers loyalty and satisfaction through direct liaison with key customers and understanding of market needs. Responsible to drive key initiatives and engage others to deliver solutions to customers.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Liaison with key customers, dealers, and other Caterpillar personnel on product issues and resolutions.
* Understand customers business needs, O&O cost calculations and engine life cycle costs, etc and develop solution to support product sales, dealer effectiveness and development, overall segment growth, NPI process, process improvement, warranty & goodwill policy.
* Maintain in-depth understanding of competitive activities and our gas customers business needs.
* Build knowledge of parts, products and programs and the commercial aspects of the parts and service business.
* Be a sales liaison among dealers, customers and other Caterpillar personnel.
* Be familiar with the company’s processes, systems and methodologies.
* Make routine decisions with limited risk issues.
* Meet expectations; deliver results, consider alternative actions, make timely decisions and develop communication skills.
* Provide information to dealers on Caterpillar information systems.
* Assist dealers in business planning and develop increased human performance capability.
* Communicate marketplace and competitive activity to Caterpillar and dealer personnel.
* Assist with existing and potential customer service issues and improvement measures
* Assist dealers on forecast and sales techniques and process improvement methods.
* Help to create and promote programs that increase sales and maximize price realization and profit margins.
* Support rollout of new products (i.e. products, parts, customer service agreements, other service products).
* Develop proficiency level in the specified foundation competencies and skills.
* Understand customer/dealer market and needs and build an understanding of how and why decisions are made within their work group and organization.
* Apply knowledge of parts and service, products, technology, industry, to support Caterpillar, dealer and customer expectations and needs.
* Direct development and continual learning through experience.
* Gain experience in parts and services, develop communication and people relationship skills, improve problem solving techniques, build business skills, enhance use of Caterpillar systems and develop leadership basics.
* Stay abreast of industry and technology changes and learn to relate those changes to Caterpillar, dealer and customer needs.
Required Qualifications:
* College or university degree plus knowledge of engine related business characteristics, working familiarity with product application and support.
* Ability to travel at least 50%
* Able to work independently and communicate effectively with others in the work group, dealer personnel and customers.
Desired Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Energy and Transportation Business segments
* Technical knowledge on Engine A&I and Service Engineering
* 3 to 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
* Completion of the Caterpillar pre-field marketing training program or equivalent Caterpillar or dealer marketing experience.
* 1 to 2 years prior experience in general development/training.
