The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to assist the C-MAR Group in positioning itself in the Chinese market for engineering services, consultancy, crewing and Subsea services within the offshore oil and gas sector. The company has seen year on year growth in the South East Asia region, and it is now ready to develop its presence in the important Chinese market.

Responsibilities:

• Report to management on common practice in China concerning issues such as payment instruments, risk, custom clearance, shipping and surface logistics, economic policies, and commercial documentation.
• Assist C-MAR in setting up the legal framework for a locally registered company in China.
• Provide assistance and advice on best practices for banking and financial services.
• Identify stakeholders in the local market who have influence on the offshore vessel operators and shipyards i.e. government regulatory organizations, shipping agencies, oil major requirements.
• Undertake market research to establish size and scope of market specific to the C-MAR services.
• Report to management on competitors and activities on a regular basis. Assess strengths and weaknesses.
• Develop and refine business value propositions to match trends and customer requirements.
• Identify best practices for establishing marketing promotions
• Lead and influence others to move toward clearly identified goals so that objectives can be met to support the business growth [suggest removing this - difficult to translate both in language and culture]
• Monitor progress toward goals during the course of execution of plan and make necessary adjustments to reach objectives
• Develop professional relationships with key targeted client personnel for business opportunities.
• Help assess the capabilities of our customers and control quality of services.
• Help communicate with the clients and pass on our comments.
• Assist in setting up a long term presence in China should management decide to pursue this.

Skills & Qualifications:

It would be beneficial for the successful candidate to have a good understanding of the maritime industry and in particular the offshore oil and gas sector.

skills & qualifications:

• Self motivated, and able to work on their own initiative. This will be a fairly autonomous role therefore a pro-active approach is required.
• Experience of the Maritime Sector is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of engineering services via business to business channels
• Degree in business/engineering is preferred.
• The ability to grow with the business and develop new contacts
• Someone who is confident at networking at senior management level.
• Excellent written and spoken English is essential, as the right candidate will be communicating and interacting within a globally diverse organisation
• Fluent in Mandarin.
