Bose Operations Center is seeking an experienced Program Manager to drive the engineering development process for the next generation of Home Entertainment products. As a leader within this dynamic engineering community the successful candidate will be responsible for the activities:
1. Before PreDevelopment Authorization, lead activity to determine the business opportunity for the project associated risks and feasibility; develop program plan estimates and recommend whether the program makes business sense and secure approval.
2. After Predevelopment authorization, assemble a crossfunctional core team to manage delivery of a product definition and project plan.
3. After Product Approval, lead the core team to carry out work described by the plan, making adjustments as needed, launching the product on time and on budget, meeting the product performance requirements, and delivering the business objectives that justified the project.
4. After product launch, evaluate early product quality issues, lead the core team to resolve issues and close project, handing off cleanly to manufacturing; capture successes and opportunities for improvement to be employed by other project teams.
5. Communicate project information to project shareholders in a timely and accurate manner to maintain trust and support for the project; maintain alignment of team objectives and plans with business strategy set by the executive committee in a way that maintains team morale and commitment to project performance.
6. Provide accurate and timely information to functional managers and senior business leaders about performance of team members to support continuous improvement of cross-functional product development.
7. Develop and manage positive relationships with marketing product managers, engineering functional managers, functional leads, team members, and others as required).
8. Ensure schedule/resource plans are current and aligned with the planned direction and outcome.
9. May supervise less senior program specialists who are responsible for subset elements of a major project; responsible for managing team without direct supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications:
Must have a track record of successfully managing large, crossfunctional project teams for design, development and introduction of new products, as well as demonstrated experience as a technical leader in new product development projects.
Experience in the following areas:
? Risk management and mitigation
? Business impact analysis
? Crisis management; scope and impact clarification
? Team leadership
? Conflict resolution
? Demonstrated acumen across wide range of engineering disciplines, i.e. Electronics design/manufacturing, mechanical design/assembly, User Interface and software, industrial design, plastics
BS in Engineering required; MS in Engineering or MBA strongly preferred. A minimum of 8 years experience within a Product Development role, preferably within Consumer Electronics. In addition, 5 to 8 years experience within a Program Manager role with a proven track record of successfully managing projects from concept phase through production start.
