Primary Purpose

The Liferay Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the adherence to standard Liferay application development practices through all corporate and store projects developed on the Liferay platform. The analyst will be expected to support the design, development and maintenance of the corporate Liferay site, including both North American and international sites as well as our retail stores.

Key Responsibilities

o Architecture, design, implementation and documentation for enterprise applications and services with LifeRay technology
o Act as technical interface to COE customers
o Serve as SME for LifeRay Technology/platform decisions
o Work closely with business analysts to define the technical solutions based on the business requirements
o Review and approve the technical specification documents and source code that are delivered by offshore development teams
o Ensure the quality while the development progresses and in the final delivery
o Guide offshore development teams in resolving technical issues
o Follow Coach process and standard to complete the entire Software Development Lifecycle
o Estimate and verify work effort of offshore development teams
o Manage the Omegabit infrastructure and make recommendations for upgrades/resource management (additional hardware/disk space etc.)
o Conduct workshops and review sessions with business and technical stakeholders
o Partner with other work stream leads, architects, and developers to drive out technical requirements and designs
o Partner with Testing/QA on developing the testing approach. Design Technology Architecture test plans for Performance, Disaster Recovery, and Operational Readiness testing
o Provide guidance to the project manager to link technical deliverables with project management deliverables and serve as point of project management escalation
o Assist in project time/risks/budget monitoring and controlling, and status reporting
o Assist in managing the existing LifeRay implementation from New enhancements to production support of existing environment
o Assist in managing communications between development team and business team if in need
o Assist in briefing IS executive stakeholders on deliverables, schedules and issues

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

o 3-5 years of hands on development and design experience in a J2EE enterprise systems
o 2+ years of demonstrated experience in LifeRay Portal development/Implementation/Support and related technologies
o Need to travel on demand during projects.
o Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
o Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
o Skilled in J2SE, J2EE, SSH, EJB3, JavaScript, CSS, XML, JSP, JSF, AJAX, Portlets (JSR168, JSR286) and open source projects
o Demonstrated experience and knowledge in enterprise application architectural designing
o Demonstrated knowledge in software development methodologies
o Experience in Struts, Spring, Hibernate, Lucene/SOLR, MySQL, Tomcat
o Experience in working with offshore development staff is highly desired
o Familiar with LifeRay APIs, LifeRay Extensions for Eclipse, LifeRay Service Builder, Maven, ANT, SVN, Velocity, Alloy UI
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
o Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.
o Knowledge in other LifeRay solutions such as LifeRay CMS and LifeRay Collaboration groupware components is a plus
o Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting is a plus.
o Strong leadership skill is a plus.
o Excellent planning and organizational skills is a plus.
