POSITION SUMMARY

Purpose

This position is to provide facility instrumentation and control system support and ensure there is adequate support and leadership for Process Control to Operation and Maintenance in Air Products Gasification Island site.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. The person in this position will be mainly responsible for the plant instrumentation and control system troubleshooting, plant projects and continuous improvement support including reliability and productivity.

2. This person is also responsible for the plant support of the Process Automation System (PAS) with respect to some programming skills, preventive maintenance, plant shutdown circuit revalidation and legacy control system upgrade.

3. Primary routine duties involve providing day-to-day tech support to Air Products Gasification Islands in two major technical disciplines – controls and instrumentation —and also include participation in new units startup and commissioning, installing, and maintaining controls systems.

4. Also facilitates implementation in the Gasification Islands of “best practices” and RCA in the controls and instrumentation disciplines—and participates in generating RCA investigation report and best practices for Gasification Islands in the controls and instrumentation areas.

5. Emphasis placed on safety, team work.

6. This position is also responsible for helping to implement Critical Safety Circuit (CSS) revalidation work, eMOC and spare parts strategy in the plant.

7. This position is also responsible for helping to train local controls/instrumentation engineering technical personnel in our plant maintenance organization.

Operations Types: Pulverized Coal Gasification, CO shift and Rectisol Purification, PSA, CO Coldbox, Gas pipelines and Steam-driven ASU plants.

Work Schedule: This position supports field operations, which operate 24 hours a day everyday, and as such this position is always “on call.” Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, but realistically will require considerable extra hours and some weekend/holiday work.

Job Requirement:

1. BS in Engineering. Preferable in Chemical, Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering.

2. 6+ years in gas, petrochemical, or related industry in operations and/or engineering or related activities. Preferably 4+ years in process controls/instrumentation and/or process engineering. Pulverized Coal Gasification Process Control experience will be priority.

3. A strong background in control and instrumentation, including valves, transmitters, controllers and logic configuration is a desired.

4. Proficiency with methods of level, temperature, pressure and flow measurement is required, as well as knowledge relating to process control, and safety systems.

5. Skills related to legacy control system upgrade planning, implementation and communications within our organizations are highly desirable.

6. Good office software using skill

7. Proficient Written/Spoken English, Chinese will be helpful.
