Chief Bioinformatics R&D Scientist

 

Our company is actively looking for a talented and inspired Chief Bioinformatics Scientist to join our R&D team. In this role, you will report directly to the VP of R&D and be responsible for a variety of projects and analysis activities. The primary responsibilities of the role include guiding informatics, bioinformatics, AI direction, following the frontier of informatics, AI and biotech and applying those techniques in the company’s product.

 

Candidates should be self-motivated and excited about the opportunity to operate in a multifaceted bioinformatics function within a growing, fast-paced biotech company.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Design and Integrate frontier techniques of bioinformatics in R&D framework. Independently design, utilize and improve bioinformatics tools to respond properly to requests from biologics projects.
• Lead the bioinformatics team in the strategy of novel tool development. Effectively design algorithms and code bioinformatics software and workflows to analyze various biological projects.
• Design deep learning framework in large volume data, guide the direction of R&D and provide target lead for product development. Demonstrate innovative approaches to code for novel therapeutics development. Develop statistical analysis methods and algorithms for data manipulation by bioinformaticians.
• Manage project timelines and schedules of projects with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Engage with software vendors and other stakeholders to determine the most efficient development using in-house and outsourced tools.

 

Primary Job Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a related field with years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, or relevant academic labs, with first-author publication within 3 years.
• Track record of software packages, databases, websites, or scientific publications
• Proficient in one of the Python, R, and Perl programming language.
• Experienced in implementing machine learning and deep learning algorithms in genomics and proteomics.
• Capable of managing and analyzing large volumes of multi-omics data. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and manage priorities in a flexible way.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent team skills and documentation skills.
