ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provide engineering support for process and technology transfer from current manufacturing sites to Nantong.
Provide technical support for all decisions related to processing. Function as engineering liaison for all decisions related to process modifications, and for all decisions related to alternative waste treatment methods.
Review and approve process changes and keep other functions informed of changes. Periodically review all raw material and finished goods specifications and analytical requirements versus the actual plant consumption mass balance. Function as technical contact for any recommended modifications.
Develop and monitor plant energy consumption for products produced.
Develop and implement process improvement projects with support from others as required.
Establish project priorities based on the key performance drivers as defined above.
Maintain communication with stakeholder regarding their process development / improvements initiatives to ensure that all appropriate testing is completed. Function as lead manufacturing representative during any in plant testing or implementation of major process changes.
Use engineering tools and other techniques as appropriate in monitoring and improvement activities.
Provide technical reports as needed.

Critical Knowledge:

Must have MS or BS degree with major in Chemical engineering or Chemistry
Practical knowledge of multiple stage organic synthesis.
Understand organic reaction mechanism and kinetics, know how to change reaction parameters to influence process yield and product quality.
Demonstrated experience of analytics as well as good understanding of basic organic chemistry.
Appreciation of process safety and ecology norms.

Critical Skills:

Fluent in Mandarin and English both spoken and written
Innovative- ability to analyze complex and diverse problem situation creatively leading to the generation and implementation of original solutions
Strong organizational skills - can handle multiple tasks
Leadership - Mentoring / training / coaching of junior chemists or technicians
Working within a multi-cultural and multi-functional environment.

Critical Experience:

Experience in process development or chemical manufacturing, preferably with a multinational foreign-invested company
Prefer experience in AI or fine chemical manufacturing
Strong communication and coordination skills
Good knowledge of process safety and process risk assessment
Engineering project management and capability of managing multiple assignments.
Chemical engineering design capability and strong process optimization and trouble shooting skills.
Good knowledge of environmental control and regulations.
